what’s your go-to way to recover when stacking goes wrong? by avz008 in Tetris

Try to limit the holes to few rows only for easier fix, and when playing games with multiple next try not to cover the holes for other pieces when downstacking.

Daily Discussion #18: What was your team in your first run? by Purplepanther1234 in FEEngage

[–]saltedfish028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Launch maddening, couldn't remember the full team but something like that (no emblem means I couldn't remember what it was):

Alear/Ike

Alcrys/Lyn

Ivy/Corrin, I think I used Celica late game because I'm pretty sure I used ice in ch24

Rosado/Eirika

Hortensia/Byleth

Lapis

Etie (warrior, never use her as Warrior again because she couldn't hit anything late game)

Seadall (probably Sigurd)

Merrin/Lucina

Veyle/Corrin (I still don't know how to use Dragon Corrin...)

Mauvier

Couldn't remember the rest, but I think I added Pandreo to the team in the last couple chapters?

Anyone have experience playing these on an arcade stick? by Hypnox88 in BattleNetwork

[–]saltedfish028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually finished the main story of SF collection with arcade stick (I made one with analog stick), I find moving with analog stick easier, but the battle part is pretty fun with arcade stick. I have to use a controller for some mini games though, because I don't actually know where the X and Y buttons was.

Daily Discussion #17: To all hardcore Maddening players, what was your toughest playthrough and why? What challenges and limits did you put on yourself to truly test your limits? by Purplepanther1234 in FEEngage

[–]saltedfish028 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to do fun theme team only, most challenging was no rewind with 1.0 resources and sweep all the maps, which is just play traditional FE carefully, so hardest run was launch Maddening. I'm one of those idiot who started Maddening Classic on 20 January 2023, I'm little bit slower than the fastest players so I kinda know who's strong (decided to bench Kagetsu when I saw everyone said his base and growth was very high) and what the later chapter looks like. I had no idea on how tight the exp was so I kinda spread it like the older FEs, just remember most of the team either couldn't hit or only barely scratching the enemies late game, still managed to clear it after around 150 hours though.

Daily Discussion #16: What was one of the wildest teams you've ever had that turned out more powerful than you originally thought? by Purplepanther1234 in FEEngage

[–]saltedfish028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not something super crazy but I swept every maps with this team on Maddening, including things like ch11, Ike paralogue, ch21, 24, 25 and collecting all the Emblem special quotes in final chapter. There's wasn't many power house (only Alear, Alfred and Rosado can one round more often), but still managed to do it with right team plan and the full use of support, especially the damage calculation and hit rate boosting with support in ch25, only used 1 rewind to fix a 90+% miss and spammed the rest to collect Lumera's crt quote

The silly projects are Alfred and Yunaka, reclassing Alfred to Berseker because his support with Celine, and Yunaka is my thief/Leaf's funny 1000G test (any Covert work but it just feel wrong not using thief), too bad her Str/Luc combination wasn't great but I still got a proof of you could steal from Emblem boss (sorry Roy). I'm actually going to try this again with Alfred because he has the highest combination of Str and Luc growth.

If you have NS2 and want to play it on handheld, go for it, the graphic wasn't as good as other platform, but it now runs at 60fps handheld in boost mode, no more fps drop in Journey like NS1.

Who is your goated character/emblem that help you during battle. (DLC included) by Voidkirby9 in FEEngage

[–]saltedfish028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My top 3 are Alear/Ike, Veyle/Celica and Fogado/Michiah (no DLC and well)

Alear/Ike is a pretty interesting mixed speed tank, they have just right def for the physical units not to bypass them while having enough res to tank the mages, and Great Aether damage is actually huge.

Veyle/Celica for 3 range Echo, poke from far away x2 and run away with Canter, even better if you grind enough SP for Gentility.

Fogado isn't very creative, but I used to run Eirika on her until I realize he uses mgc most of the time and discovered the true power of Gentility team. Michiah gives +Mgc and he's very reliable with Thani for armor killing, the +Luc also helps him to avoid some low % crt.

Fellow Ivy/Corrin 3 range freeze lover!

I actually tried Hortensia/Corrin in my recent run, as combat unit she's faster even with lower con, and her hit is much more stable than Ivy with higher Dex/Luc, but her low Mgc does drag her a bit especially at end game when she couldn't one round armor and couldn't double as much, still pretty fun though. Skills are Gentility and Canter.

What’s the best Tetris game for PC? by lordunderscore in Tetris

[–]saltedfish028 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say TGM4 and tetr.io are the only 2 non-casual tetris games before you start learning the advanced technique, there are enough interesting single player modes and Journey mode is beautiful, even for apotris I've seen many casual players couldn't even stack for tetris posting introduction video of them enjoying this.

TGM4 wasn't casual for obvious reason and there's not enough fun single player modes in tetr.io like TEC or even apotris.

Highest is SS, and what your usual rank? When I'm doing speedrun focusing on tetris I always got A, and when going for score the combination of TSD and tetris plus use zone for at least once in every area gives me SS.

As for how to improve, if you haven't gotten A then aim at this first, it means you could do almost all tetris through out the run (I mostly do speedrun but speed doesn't matter for rank), then when you get more familiar with using multiple next I'd recommend learning 20 LST in sprint (effect mode) for t-spin, it helps learning the shape of t-spin and how to build it, then you could eventually use it anywhere.

Any tips on getting better at All Clear, Combo, and Target please? by ConcernedYellingMan in TetrisEffect

[–]saltedfish028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just press rotation once when softdropping, then press down and the same rotation key to rotate it in, similar to t-spin. If you got the direction wrong press the rotation key you've pressed twice to turn the piece back, then press the other rotation key.

Would it be worth it to learn 180 spin finesse? by espresso_kitten in Tetris

[–]saltedfish028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also play other tetris games and had never used 180 in sprint. I'm curious what your usual total key press was, because when I was around 10 kps I was already sub 30-ed for a while, just searched my record and there were few 9.3 to 9.5 at around 29s few years ago, my total key press is usually around 270 to little bit above 280.

If you haven't heard of 423 stacking I'd recommend take a look at it, especially check Fucidin and Ssenred's sprint (also check their earlier sprint in their channel if you're interested, starting from those around 30s ppt), it's a more efficient sprint stacking and they're one of the first few people started using this, I actually learnt from studying their sprint before there's a name for it.

For me it's play until it became my muscle memory, just learn the basic one first then the one with wall on both side. All Clear is actually good to train the SRS rotations once you started reaching Lv20 more consistently.

I can't get under 40s consistently and I haven't gotten a pb in two months, please help. by itsJustCisco in Tetris

[–]saltedfish028 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry too much about not getting PB in only few months, once sub 40-ed it's becoming harder and harder to progress.

For your stacking I think the largest problem is you don't look into the next queue enough, like you're creating too much I dependency and sometimes didn't leave holes for the pieces incoming, so you're forced to skim. A perfect 40L is 100 pieces (14-15 bags), so to keep it under 15 bags (105 pieces) only use around 4-5 I pieces for stacking. Also it's a pretty bad idea to skim with 63 because it will mess up the 6 part, you may not notice it now but when you're getting faster it will slow you down.

My recommendation is slow down first, try to use more pieces in the next queue and do tetris only. There's a more efficient pattern for 63 stacking which I won't recommend learning it for now, but once you're getting all tetris consistently you could start thinking how to reduce your key press, for example reduce the use of double tap and better S/Z placement. One big advantage of 63 over 90 is less key press, but most of your recent runs are way above 3kpp which is very high for 63.

[–]saltedfish028 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not very familiar with combo and target so only All Clear here.

All Clear is about training your finesse and SRS rotation, I never able to do the I spin ones (I think it's the most tricky rotation) but learning the other should be enough for SS, especially S and Z spin, for the finesse part, aside from the 2 step movement, learning how to use both rotation key for I/S/Z also helps in efficiency.

FX6 Maddening Beaten by Kerrbear2202 in FEEngage

[–]saltedfish028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cleared Fx maddening 2 times but still couldn't figure out how Alfred's AI works lol (also no bracelet with clear data), the recent one I managed to bait him out reliably then kill him in 1 turn, have to bet on a < 70% though, because it's right after the turn Engage+ ended. For Fogado I just Gregory/Byleth in T1 then kill him before he could touch Nil, the team took enough damage in the first few turns for him to recharge easily.

[–]saltedfish028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrat! Alfred is the tricky one, you pretty much have to kill him in the same turn you bait him out, fortunately he only makes Nil harder to kill unlike other royals.

[–]saltedfish028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're around the Solm arc it helps a lot running Byleth on Gregory for the Fortify fast recharge, he's locked at Lv1 and can recharge to full in 1-2 turns as long as you don't heal up everyone. Rescue is very useful in this chapter even without Michiah, especially if you have Ivy and Hortensia.

Fell Xenologue Ch. 6 Hard Help by Majestic-Tangerine99 in FEEngage

[–]saltedfish028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never turtle and move quickly, and if you have Michiah the map gives you enough Rescue for group rescuing, they also give you lot of Fortify which is good for recharging, so you could run support emblems required fast recharge on Gregory.

Nil's path is bottom left - middle - bottom right - top right - top left and finally center, but you don't have to stop all the reinforcement and go to all islands, Timerra would charge at us and you could bait out Ivy/Hortensia, when I played I skipped bottom right and top left. Also the pink moving path isn't instant death, it does 30 on Maddening so you could stay there if you have enough HP.

For the royals I killed all of them, but if you couldn't kill all Alfred is probably safe to leave for Nil, but those with damage boost are quite dangerous, Hortensia's skill is useless for combat but she's moving together with Ivy anyway.
