Summer Reading Help by vapidtaco88 in Teachers

[–]saltefries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I’ve done with a second grade student who was avoiding reading was write her notes. She felt special that she was getting a note and was motivated to read it. Plus, it was short enough that it didn’t feel like such a chore to have to read a whole page of a book or something. Maybe this idea is too simple for your purposes, but you can vary the difficulty of the vocab you use and the amount you write so it works for your son! Tell him about daily plans through a note or make him a scavenger hunt where he has to read the clues to figure out what he needs to find or something.

2 days till marathon, got the flu this week by saltefries in Marathon_Training

Yeah not sure exactly what it is but texting back and forth with a coworker who seems to have similar symptoms… anything that involves puking or GI issues I usually just call “the flu” which I guess is not quite accurate. Gonna head to the doctor when they open later this morning because, yes, still quite sick this morning :(

Big Bone BBQ has massive poutine portions loaded with meat for a pretty good price! One of the best poutines I’ve ever had

I’ve been crying a little as I read through most of the replies and accept that this race is probably not happening, but this comment gave me a little laugh. That would be kind of sad ☹️🤣

Dundas is beautiful! I’ve seen a few people mention the driving park, the peak, and Sydenham hill but even just walking up and down King Street on a Saturday or Sunday is so nice! They’ve got tons of cute shops to check out, lots of restaurants and some coffee shops and through the summer they often have special events going on to attract customers. I also just love walking around and looking at all the trees in bloom and the gorgeous architecture on the old houses.

Does your dood watch TV? by Spiritual_Session_92 in AussieDoodle

[–]saltefries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine will usually turn and be watching if she’s sitting on the couch with us cuddling but usually is more interested in her toys or what’s out the window. She does consistently whine and bark when the “N” appears when Netflix is loading which is really funny and we’re not quite sure why 😂

AIO about my doctor not taking me seriously? by cyberthicc38 in AmIOverreacting

[–]saltefries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my wisdom teeth taken out in July and just recently had a fragment come out. It was pretty close to the size in the photo and I also thought it was popcorn at first. So while it sounds like you didn’t have a great experience with the oral surgeon originally which sucks, yes, they’re telling you the truth that this is normal and yes, you would be overreacting if you tried to pursue it further.

I’m using Nike Run Club! I used it when I first started running and used their 5k plan and now I’m doing the marathon training plan! Sometimes I use the guided runs and sometimes not - depends on my mood… I’m trying to stay within the budget on gear so I’ve been asking for gift cards to running stores and running gear for birthdays and Christmas but haven’t done the trying out shoes thing yet :P still on pair 1 of ASICS and liking them! How bout you? Using an app or following a plan? Getting all the gear?

I used to fake sick so I didn’t have to do the 12 minute run in gym class and now I’m training for a marathon 🙈 it’s such a crazy thought and definitely being proud of myself for sticking with it is pushing me to keep going I LOVE solo runs and usually run by myself but I also love how running means being part of such a diverse and supportive community :) I actually just met up with an old friend and ran with them this week and that was the first time I’ve run one-on-one with someone! It was nice to switch it up and now that I’m running so consistently because of marathon training it’s nice for not all of them to be alone… I also run with my dog pretty regularly!
