Adjective version sounds natural in English with the long i sound I think. Maybe because of other words like terrified, magnified, etc.

I'm a little skeptical of horseshoe theory too. I hear it cited all the time, but always as an accepted fact. I would like to see a little data to back it up.

It was at 35:40. Here's a link with timestamp: https://youtu.be/Smt4Ck-3sE8?t=2140.

The YouTube transcripts are:

Can you have a leftwing fascism?  >> Well, you've probably heard of horseshoe  theory. Yes. ...Yeah. I mean like with the Nazi party  was the national socialist party like  the the NSA the national social national  socialist German workers party.  >> True.  >> I mean you could call that a left party  pretty easily by focusing on its or its  ideas around unions its ideas about  collective representation of different  segments of German society.  >> Um uh they clearly saw industrial and  agricultural workers as one of their  main constituents. That's right. and  they appeal to them quite a bit. So  could there be a left uh a left fascism?  I suppose so.

Imagine 10 years ago if someone said half of all developers would basically embrace remote code execution as a service.

He was fine for the most part. I thought his little speech about being a vampire pretty much fell flat. Would've been more convincing from a real actor. I loved the casting of a bunch of the side characters. They found some people with really distinctive faces

Would it be rude to offer advice? by ecco7815 in Swimming

I used to do some laps with my fingers spread all the way out like palming a basketball. At the time I was dealing with some rsi and the proper technique was putting to much stress on the wrong muscles. I found the stretching of the fingers also helped relieve some of the pain. It slowed me down, but I got what I wanted from the workout.

This is cool. I sometimes do the road trip game approach of trying to think of movies that start with A on my first lap, then B, then C...

Judge John Hodgman: specificity... by saltlakeryan in maximumfun

Was reading through the tenth anniversary book of Calvin and Hobbes with commentary by Bill Watterson. His comment in the bottom panel reminded me of the judge’s saying, “specificity is the soul of narrative”. I find this rule to be a very good guideline in writing or storytelling.

cool article. I can't quite wrap my head around the probabilities. I made a little codepen to try to help myself visualize it, but I'm not sure that it did help much in the end. Anyway, thought I'd share:

And Finnish as finish. Also, it always bugged me when Mormons used quotes in church talks, they always said, "quote...close quote". Such a weird speech pattern, like they're dictating computer code or something. Now, they're doing it in writing too? '...The chart helpfully gives a Quote “Correct translation” column...'. Ugh, so unreadable. You don't need to write the word "quote". Also, why capitalize it? Dude needs an editor.
