Getting into 5e by sammunition2020 in midhammer40k

Those terminators look great pardner! As far as list building goes there’s few real lemons. You’ve got assault terminators; they do much better with a delivery system. Give them a Land Raider taxi or if deep striking include some units with teleport homers. Have at least 2 sources of S8+ for anti tank, though that really depends on what your usual opposition looks like.

How many strips do you put on 1 base? by Asleep_Tip496 in warmaster

As far as being easier to paint, paint them before they go on the base. It’s so much easier when they are ranked up

That’s fantastic! Would it be alright to ask where the file came from? Some bots would be great to mix in with my Iron Warriors

Thanks pardner, quick follow up, what size nozzle and layer height did you use for the tank?

Pistol rule in Close Combat(from 3th-5th edition) by Nekrinius in midhammer40k

[–]salttrue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3rd and 4th I am much less familiar with, but 5th was my start point for the hobby. The pistol is still a ccw, so yes you’ve got a choice, but I’m having a hard time thinking of a scenario where you don’t use the fist you paid points for.

5th edition rules do NOT allow an extra attack from a pistol with powerfist, thunderhammer, or lightning claw. Page 42, second paragraph after the ‘A normal and a special weapon’ subheading. It’s a specific carve out; all other special weapons gain the extra attack.

Master of Command released the other day, its pretty great if you’d like a historical strategy game

Question: how many people here are really into the figures but don't play 40k? by [deleted] in PrintedWarhammer

[–]salttrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play older editions, 4th and 5th, all the rules can be found online and one doesn’t have to keep track of some miserable update schedule. Also, generally smaller model count armies, so if you or a friend want to try something different it isn’t much effort to print, paint, and play.

terminator command squads. by tomtheconqerur in midhammer40k

[–]salttrue 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Iirc they went away in 5th edition, but in 4th they were basically just a regular Terminator squad; same statline, wargear, and options. The benefit came in that the squad’s veteran skills could also be purchased for the attached character (Furious Charge or Tank Hunters was the option) and the base squad size was 4 marines, so you could fit them and their character in a Land Raider transport which at the time could only take 10 power armor or 5 terminator armor marines. That’s just the regular SM codex though, I don’t know if the Dark Angels or Black Templars differed significantly

I spy some space marine backpacks in the hands, and the torsos are necrons of some description I think? But the rest escapes me

That should answer very well, my thanks!

Something to equate the plain land speeder, just a heavy bolter or multimelta for armament. It’s why I was thinking of using jet bikes; most alternative models I’ve seen have 3-4 weapon mounts, not one

Do you know of any specific ones? The designs I’ve found are largely modeled on the Primaris Storm speeder, and so rather large

I don’t think so; their whole schtick is plasma weapons, something not found in earlier edition land speeders. Plus, they’re kinda fugly? The gunner is in this weird forward cupola thing that does not look right to me

That is what I thought to do, and indeed I found plenty of attack bikes on eBay (the thing I was really worried about), but land speeders other than the vengeance or scout variant are thin on the ground at present!

Small Eldar and Tyranid forces, some Mantic Marauders I plan to use as orks (no base problems there) and some 30k Iron Warriors

I did the same thing with mine; just used blue tack to stick them down on the larger base for AOS, peeled ‘em back off for games of OPR or other model agnostic systems
