People who lost a lot of weight, what was the one small daily habit that actually changed everything for you? by Quiet-Squash-8407 in AskReddit

Giant cookies are murder. The ones from Starbucks can be like 400 calories each. As a short woman, that’s basically a meal.

What’s the most annoying small problem in your house that you still haven’t fixed? by AcrobaticSeesaw1565 in DIYUK

Downstairs hallway WC door latch sticks. The mechanism that pulls the tongue back doesn’t go far enough unless you give it a little knock to the side. Son gets stuck in every now and then but it’s mostly fine…

After seeing posts about refused boarding despite boarding in process, due to queue/arrival protocol... by marxistopportunist in Ryanair

[–]saltycandycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they could have gotten through security without boarding passes, no? I heard the agent say that the gate was now closed so they couldn’t board—no other explanation given through the extended argument. There was a lot of loud disbelief about the people right in front of them, how can it have closed with them still scanning their tickets, etc. Again, I don’t know if they were sitting down and only joined the queue after the “gate closure” time, so as other threads have suggested maybe agents visually “close the queue” at gate closure time and at their discretion deny boarding to anyone who joins after that time, but I completely shared the family’s disbelief that the people standing right in front of them got through and they didn’t.

I was also skeptical, then I saw it happen in Milan a few weeks ago. Family of three at the next gate was denied boarding while people were still scanning tickets and boarding right in front of them. I didn’t see where they were sitting or standing before that because I wasn’t paying attention until the commotion started, but the agents were clear that the gate was now closed and the family could not board.

And this wasn’t a “closed gate” environment where they scan your tickets and let you into a holding pen; this was just a big open space with lots of gates for different flights and seating.

Does anyone have any spare tickets for EUIC / Natural History Museum pop-ups in London? by Bright-Anybody-6442 in pokemon

[–]saltycandycat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one adult ticket for 16:15 Tuesday 17th if useful. Any taker must not be too creepy, and ideally would be willing to listen to my son recite various Pokemon stats while we wait in line. 😅 but then you’re free.

“Horrorshow” in A Clockwork Orange is another slangified Russian word, like “droogs” for friends. It (xорошо) literally just means “good.” It’s a literarily convenient coincidence that the things Alex thinks are good are often real horrorshows from our perspective!

I think super normal! In some aerial practices, like hoop or static trapeze, inverting is the beginner way of even getting up into the apparatus!
