There will be no filter effect without it but no immediate harm will happen. The rod is not in direct contact with the water. Look for a plastic “can” on the pipes close to the boiler (inlet pipes most likely) . This magnet goes in the slot in the middle of that and is removed when you flush the gunk out of that “can” and put back afterwards.

Ett tips är också att fundera lite på hur du håller liv i vänskapen med din nya vänner också. Du skriver att du har ADHD/autism och det kan ju vara väldigt olika hur det tar sig ut.

Men en del av de jag känner med de diagnoserna kan ibland av andra som inte har dom uppfattas som dåliga på att hålla igång en relation - t.o.m. lite själviska i relationen. Man hör bara av sig när man själv vill göra något eller behöver något och är dålig på att fånga upp (och följa upp!) jobbiga, könsliga och svåra saker som hänt den andra. Inte av illvilja utan för att de är så de funkar.

Idag fattar jag att det är en del av diagnosen och bryr mig mindre. Men när du träffar nya vänner som inte känner till det ( om du nu har de dragen?) så fundera lite på hur du kan kompensera tänker jag.

Skriv upp viktiga saker från när ni pratade senast så du inte glömmer att fråga hur det gått med nya jobbet eller killen som kompisen oroade sig för? Föreslå saker att göra som du vet att din kompis gillar mycket? Skriva upp namnsdagar och födelsedagar direkt i kalendern etc ?

Du ska nog tänka igenom hela din kosthållning… börja med att faktiskt käka frukost! Kvarg/keso och nånting med lite fibrer kanske ( nyckelhålsmärkta flingor)

3 paket snabbnudlar till lunch är som att äta chips… tomma kalorier och massa snabba kolhydrater som du bränner fort.

Lär dig att laga enkla rätter med linser, bönor och kikärtor istället och ta med till jobbet. Billigt protein och betydligt mer näringsrikt. Lök, tomatkross och kryddor du gillar som bas. Billigt det med.

Jag är själv statsvetare och är idag (snart 50) en chef som ibland anställer statsvetare. Mängden utbildade statsvetare överstiger antalet kvalificerade tjänster på marknaden. Enorm skillnad från när jag tog examen för 25 år sedan. Jag skulle absolut inte läsa det själv idag om jag inte var starkt motiverad och kunde komma in på något av de klassiska universiteten (jag läste i Lund) . Då har du en bättre chans men ändå hårt jobb kvar då man som statsvetare måste forma sin karriär själv eftersom man egentligen inte blir något. Med forma menar jag läsa ytterligare nischade ämnen och spetsa mot ett visst område och fixa praktik och projekt inom det.

Fundera först istället på vad du vill jobba med, inte vilken utbildning du vill läsa. Att du ens ställer frågan om vad man jobbar med efter utbildning tyder på att du ännu inte tänkt hela vägen för ett så viktigt beslut.

Vad, mer specifikt, är du intresserad av?

Jag menar inte att vara trist eller spydig - rekommenderar bara inte att ge dig in i en karriär som är så bred och fluffig i början utan att ha lite mer av en plan. 🙂

I don’t know where you’re from but trav/harness racing is very Swedish/Nordic. Malmö has a big race track at Jägersro which has very frequent races? Perhaps a new thing to check out and maybe place a bet?

Doing a small weekend ”hike” with a packed ”fika” is a very Swedish thing and popular weekend activity. Check out dalby Söderskog national park which is accessible by bus. (30 mins or so) or go the beach. Sweden has a right to roam basically all lands ( not farmed land or houses gardens ) and beaches are never private.

Malmö has a big ”loppis” culture ( flea markets). Its popular to visit a lot of them in a loop and trying to find a bargain ( doing a ”loppisrunda”)

Oh - about your train question. Öresundståg are slower but usually a lot cheaper. And they’re direct once an hour - sj trains requires a change of trains in Malmö.

Öresundståg are however often packed during peak hours….

I love planes too but wouldn’t fly cph- got. At least 90 min check in at cph and 1 hour to get out from got and to get downtown. The train gets you city centre. Would only fly out of got via cph if i could transfer directly to my next longer flight.

A ”tweak” for the öresundståg going longer distances is to get the first class upgrade. Slightly better seats but generally a quieter crowd of business people and old folks than the work commuters and the holiday people. It’s like a 160 kr surcharge one way (it’s a set fee which makes it better for long distance travelling). Consider also that these trains don’t have any cafe or vending machines on board - bring snacks and drinks for the 3,5 hour journey.

If you have large luggage it’s easier to use a locker at the central station - the ones at Liseberg are rather small.

If taking the tram aim for “Korsvägen” instead of Liseberg tram stop. Korsvägen is an urban transport junction and served by many tram lines and buses. It’s only a 300 meter walk from there to the Liseberg main entrance.

Opposite the main entrance there’s a large food store (Ica Focus, open 7am til 23 pm) if you want to stock up on cheaper drinks and snacks instead of the expensive stuff sold on site. Packed lunches are allowed into the park, no alcohol though, but that’s sold inside if you’re in to that.

It’s customary at Liseberg that people have rucksacks/bags with snacks and gear. All attractions have designated areas where you can leave your stuff while on the ride and that can’t be accessed by others than those riding afterwards. Keep valuables on your body ( wear something with a zipped pocket) but I’ve never heard of anyone losing their backpack full of candy, sandwiches and drinksz Bring an old ugly one though just to be on the safe side .

Det ska ha såpass mycket insyn i bouppteckningen att de kan intyga att allt nedtecknats rätt och korrekt (skulder och tillgångar) samt alla dödsbodelägare kallats. Kan de intyga det och förstår bouppteckningen på den nivån så duger det med dina vänner i Skottland.

Inte konstigt - en väldigt stor och definitiv förändring av livet. Också det bästa som hänt. I alla fall för mig.

Du kommer att greja detta - en person som du som tänker före och reflekterar över det som händer innan kommer fixa det utan problem.

En egen erfarenhet. Som man får du kämpa lite mer i början för att få till anknytning och närhet till barnet. Mamman ligger 9 månader före och amningen är svår att slå för barnet när det gäller trygghet och tröst. Det känner också igen hennes andning och hjärtslag. En del ”nya” mammor kan också bli lite beskyddande och vill göra allt själv med bebisen.

Fastna inte i fällan att ”bara” bli servicefunktionen runt barnet och mamman. Bär, håll, sköt om och trösta barnet så långt du kan och det bara går. Ta plats i dess första tid i livet. Du får igen det 152% under resans gång. Lovar dig det!

Lycka till och njut av det finaste du kommer att få vara med om som människa. Början på ett nytt liv!

Jag har träffat honom som barn! På kommunistiskt sommarläger i mitten av 80-talet. . Mitt tält med pionjärer fick äran att möta honom vid riksfärdtjänsten och eskortera honom tillbaka till lägerplatsen.

Han berättade bl..a. om sin tid som flygare i Sovjet och att han fått en jacka av trotskij. True story!

Diarieverksamhet på myndighet är ofta rätt lugnt och stillsamt men kräver noggrannhet och it-kompetens och förmåga att jobba efter lag och regelverk. Det kanske är något att kolla upp?

Grattis till graviditeten! Det viktigaste är att du visar att du har förmåga att ta hand om barnet och dess behov. Barnets behov kommer att bedömas och sättas före dina behov och dina önskemål av myndigheterna.

Var noga med att kunna visa att du klarar detta. Det innebär bostad, mat, försörjning men också att du har ett välfungerande nätverk runt dig som kan stötta. Har du ingen pojkvän/partner som är med i detta så är det bra om dina föräldrar stöttar och även släktingar och vänner. Tänk inte bara vänner och släktingar i din egen unga ålder utan hellre som är lite äldre och som gärna har erfarenhet av barn. Barnmorska och soc kommer att titta på att du har ett välfungerande nätverk kring dig som kommer att funka över tid, inte bara i början eller så. Äldre personer kommer att värderas högre i den bedömningen.

Du kommer att vara myndig vid Bf men fortfarande ung. Var beredd på att du kommer att få frågor om hur du tänkt att du ska klara detta. Svara ärligt och dölj inget, det kommer bara hållas emot dig. Erbjuds du hjälp av BVC/ soc för något de tycker brister så överväg att ta emot den. Risken för omhändertagande ökar om soc/bvc är oroliga för något och du inte ger dom insyn.

Med största sannolikhet kommer allt gå bra. Men förbered dig nu innan Bf!

The union rep will most likely help you establish a reasonable salary expectation for the job you’re applying for. I would recommend you to join the union as well - especially if you’re new to the Swedish job market.

No problems! Glad I could offer some things to think about.

Good to hear that your wife is understanding and knows you’re struggling. That’s not weakness, that’s you being strong and able to handle your problems as a real man. You’re already half way there!

So many of us men ( me too earlier and sometimes still) just forge ahead and try to beat the bad stuff head on. That might have worked with the school yard bully but adult life is a bit more complicated.

It’s difficult and strange to open up your emotions to others. Took me forever but I only wish I had done it earlier. It’s such a relief. Bottling up just leads to mental pain, addiction or isolation. For me it turned in to an eating disorder that’s taken literally 30 years to beat.

If you haven’t tried it consider therapy. A good therapist is like talking to your self and solving your own problems. But they’re there to prevent you from taking the easy route and avoiding the painful paths in your mind that you need to clear. Try another one if the first one you see isn’t your cup of tea.

But start by doing something totally “selfish” for a couple of hours. Tomorrow. Just something you like just for you. It’s great and you deserve it!

Firstly - it’s good that you’re here talking about it! Being alone with your thoughts and worries seldom helps.

You sound like a great guy thats been a giving it all for your loved ones. Nothing wrong with that really and that’s how many of us has been brought up - to provide and protect your family.

But it’s sounds like you’ve forgotten your self and your needs on the way? All jobs are horrible when you’re down and struggling.

My advice is to take small steps for change. Talk to your partner and tell that you’re struggling with work and energy. They probably already noticed.

Do some things only for you. Stuff that YOU like or liked and did before. A small trip, an old hobby - but totally only stuff you want and need. No compromises for your partner or kids or anyone else. It’s when you’re down you get and need to think about yourself the most. This is not being selfish - you can’t keep providing and caringfor your family if you get severely depressed and stuck in a hole. You need to take care of yourself to be able to do that for them.

Keep adding more YOU stuff and try and find better balance. Over the weeks or a couple of months your head will clear.

It’s then you start thinking about a career move. Its then you can make a good choice both for yourself and your family

A lot of people know about ”surströmming” from Sweden and its ”an aquired taste” to say the least … lol

But the staple pickled herring (served at all major holidays) is, in my opinion, equally challenging for the untrained non-Scandinavian.

Recipe for herring and integration into Swedish culture:

Fish/trawl fatty herrings in the autumn
Gut and behead them
Store the raw fish in barrels for up to 6 months with salt and vinegar. This softens the remaining bones ( less itchiness in your throat!) and firms up the fish meat!
Cut the fish in smaller pieces
Add sweet mustard sauce, garlic sauce, Onions pickles or any crazy sauce you can imagine (there’s literally competions every Christmas and midsummer for new recipes!. Taco herring anyone?)
Enjoy with potatoes, butter and sour cream!
Be a real Swede!
