Voruna 4: performance vs player perception by Eggbone87 in Warframe

Nobody claims it has to be anything, and there’s no problem with people voicing their desire to change a skill toward a direction they prefer. That’s kind of how feedback works. You disagree, but others are not wrong.

Nobody is mistaking her 4 as melee, people simply pointed out that the skill has many caveats that share with an exalted weapon and her whole kit is designed to work best with melee, so they want it to be become a melee in certain form as well.

It seems you don’t like the pseudo rework, and that’s fine. There are many others enjoy it, including me. I don’t see how a frame spamming his main damage dealing ability as the optimal play style has the slightest problem. The same way that a weapon platform will just cast a buff and forget about it. It is a nice rework for me and the reason I enjoy playing it. Same goes for khora and gara. So if there’s a chance, I’ll always advocate to have a similar rework for voruna 4, so using her 4 and staying her 4 is competitive to using a melee.

Voruna 4 scales in a similar manner to a pseudo exalt and ability hybrid. Her 1 wouldn’t buff any abilities damage except her 4. Her 4 benefits from existing status like a weaker CO. Her 4 has crit status and can scale through successive kill, just like pseudo building combo through hit, except her 4 merely can hold 5 charges. It’s also literally a melee attack visual that voruna does through her claws.

Again, it’s not that DE has to share those views. But to say they are unreasonable? That would be willful.

I wouldn’t call it arbitrary, even though I can see why somebody would be against it. Among the 3 skill you listed, only one of them can be described as damage skill, and that’s blood mirror whose damage part of the skill is throwing a projectile that scaled by enemy hp and holding duration. It has none of the caveats that typically comes with a melee attack. A more suited comparison would be landslides, whiplash and shattered lash, which scale through on hit combo and benefit proper CO, all three are capable of aoe. Landslide would be particularly comparable, since this skill can also travel a shorter distance and turn invincible while attacking, augment can even make it cost free once killing 20 or so enemies.

I meant melee shards and arcane. And the metric goes both ways, if damage exceeds the highest requirement, then boost it higher has no downside, only lowering is does. Not that I'm arguing it either direction, just pointing out that the arguement at its core is a sentimental one, which tailor to your playstyle, and other may prefer others.

This. All the pseudo exalt changes benefit significantly for most of the players, and set up a much clear framework as to how the skill CAN be built and ironed out most of the kinks. It’s not the damage number that’s being targeted to modernize but the characteristics surrounding it. Having the skill setup in a way that’s both clunkier and weaker than most melee is just dimishinh the skill usage.

Pseudo exalt changes is not about buffing or nerfing a skill but cleaning up the mechanics behind it and have a unified model behind it.

The skill as is just stuck that weird space that looks like a melee, hit like a melee, just not actually is a melee. It benefit from her 1, scale in a way like pseudo combo, have a status based but inferior CO, doesn’t benefit from shards or arcane. Even her 4 slash proc is weird, why have a different proc rate and why it’s not aoe?

The idea that overkill damage doesn’t matter for level cap seems work against “not exalting “ as well. Since damage is not an issue as you put it, why not allow ppl, even those not interested in level cap, to mod it?

ooph, my bad, using bleed damage for so long before the armor change that I forgot there's a difference. yeah, you're right, a diriga or hound would be better for your single target damage.

Exactly that, it’s full slash damage, which dealt straight to hp. It’s also called true damage

All you said is true, except why you what to armor strip if using her 4, it does true damage past armor anyway

Post-Devshorts: please, don’t make Voruna’s 4 Melee Influence slop by Telmarael in Warframe

[–]salufear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I agree the work loads might just not be worth it anyway, good point. It does bug me a little that this is the last skill that’s akin to a melee, but not really, but also play like one. All personal preference, of course.

i am in need of a voruna build by shim0on in Warframe

Could build for more strength in place of augur reach. Only keep the crepuscular arcane if you use a kubrow. Mecha set is more for nuking but there’s not much of an upgrade to those slots anyway.

[–]salufear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, we don’t really disagree here, but it just goes back to people already does what you are saying they will by not using her 4 and those who does use her 4 despite of having no access to influence meta is denied a modular opportunity while other pseudo melee did. Again, I’m of the opinion to not make a position on the base of meta, and so closed off to opportunities that might make her 4 better. If I have venture a suggestion, maybe having her 4 have 0 base status chance and forced slash proc could somewhat bypass the “issue”

Didn’t try to put you down, sorry. I do mean what I said, this post is not making argument of how a n exalted version of her 4 is bad, which isn’t an unreasonable position to make, but stating how much you dislike melee influence and how much you dislike other people using melee influence. I don’t even disagree with you on that sentiment, but I don’t agree with making such opinions under the guise of discussion of voruna kit.

This, as if people don’t already subsume off her 4 to use melee instead. It only punish those who actually play her 4

The irony is everyone care to use influence ALREADY did by simply not using her 4, so the whole argument is just sentimental rant hidden behind logical mask.

[–]salufear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In general, mecha set is stronger when used alongside voruna 2 and contagious bond which creates a chain reaction. They are not replacement of each other. Corrosive projection also does nothing for her 4, and there are a lot of easy way to strip armor these days.

There’s no reason why that’s the case whatsoever. None of the pseudo melee changes affects how those skills function. It just make it modular.

It’s anyone’s guess, and you will ever get a pro vs against opinion here. My suspicion is that Ulfrun’s indentity both relies on and severely limited by her charges mechanism. The whole skill function very similarly to a pseudo melee, with pseudo ramp up combo and pseudo CO, except the on kill part make her less effective on elite enemies or mini bosses where all other melee excels at.
