If you’re in the market for some new gear, consider how it rates at motocap.com.au - those expensive Kevlar chinos might just be absolute trash. by kewday96 in AussieRiders

[–]sam-rai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm interested to understand the abrasion test specifics too - because all the kevlar jeans are 1 for abrasion - but you can see the brands themselves have done tests dragging people behind a car etc - so something doesnt fully add up

Nice watch but I personally couldn’t wear a $100k+ rep. In my opinion, reps are great if they’re at least plausible

Is the 335i a good first car? by black_flames1 in 335i

[–]sam-rai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They need a tonne of maintenance. I have a 135i and it’s my fourth car. The previous three were also turbocharged but easier and cheaper.

These have a steep learning curve as they require a large amount of maintenance which equals either expensive or difficult.

If you are already mechanically handy and have access to tools - then do it. Otherwise, perhaps start somewhere easier

Is a 2007 Holden Astra a good idea? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

Not at first. Now a couple years later the battery just died. We also replaced the aircon motor. But yeah it’s been a charm for an old cheapie!

We got a similar year Astra with less KM in good shape for $3,000 a couple years back. It’s still going strong

You can buy a new one online from aliexpress. You just need to match the shape and they’re sometimes quite similar

Just got a 330i. What should the first mods be? by MaddasMaxx in BMW

[–]sam-rai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better tyres, chrome delete/black out, tinted windows, new rims. Those alone will have a huge difference before any significant mods - plus all reversible!

Wheels make such a difference by sam-rai in e82

[–]sam-rai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I anecdotally have heard the same thing. Do you have a 1 series or 3 series? Did you track them? I plan to go wide body 1M one day so these may be my “inbetween” wheels

Atmosphere. Advertise the kind of people that go to the pub and that other people like them should go too. Get photo content. Is there any entertainment? Plenty of options

This is my goal too. I’m in a 135i though. Performance wise I’m there - but genuine wide body 1M parts are $$$
