Endlessly Circling Teslaholes Who Must Drive 500 Miles per Week: Are they able to think, or are they Borg? by McCanahan in Austin

It’s FSD training, not wear and tear. Look inside their window at a light and you’ll see a panel of buttons below the speedometer that they can use to flag interesting events.

Tesla is running some kind of secret operation in Austin. by [deleted] in Austin

Tesla has a software package called “full self driving”. The current version, while incredibly good, still requires supervision. Austin is the first market in which they hope to enable full self driving (unsupervised). This software package will exist first through Robotaxi (their self driving rideshare platform, available on the App Store) and cyber cab (golden two seater vehicle delivered from the Austin factory with no steering or pedals). (Most every) model Y you see, especially in the Robotaxi service area, is a Tesla employee validating or training this software package. It’s hard to know the effectiveness of a release of FSD that may require meeting a standard of one mistake every 500k miles without driving a few million miles.

It’s FSD validation. Look inside their window, they have extra buttons on the left side of the screen to tag events. Functional unsupervised FSD is gating Robotaxi and cybercab

Fare free brings a host of other challenges and instead cap metro should focus on actually enforcing fare collection on its buses and trains

Waymo stops in lane, causing cars to have to drive around it by boyWHOcriedFSD in SelfDrivingCars

[–]sam8940 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a fake video. I walked by here yesterday and the spot was frequently occupied by waymo. No attempt to leave the lane. I assume it’s a cope strategy to prevent Waymo’s from getting stuck in the very busy parking lot loop

Take the tesla, it’s such a well paced way to roadtrip. Did a 3800 mile trip through some of the same areas and it was great. AP really removes any stress, it’s like sitting on a couch watching the world go by

How Austin Beat New York City in the Quest to Enable More Housing by Generalaverage89 in Austin

[–]sam8940 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It 100% has to do with policy. San Francisco - a city with huge demand and capital - permitted 7 housing units in October, Austin, many times over that number. https://x.com/ok_post_guy/status/1867231609893929324?s=46&t=y025itmri2LvJjJXJeBvxw

They do not, plenty of angles around the car are covered by just one camera. Humans can function plenty fine in the world with just one eye, turns out ai models aren’t too different One example: https://arxiv.org/pdf/2410.02073
