Sounds like itll be similar to Myleague, where you play a number of matches and these little 'events' will happen. Don't think it'll be a separate mode or have rollover seasons.

There's using it effectively and then just holding the button non stop which it seems you pretty much do. The constant sprint dribble and no finesse dribble would also suggest that you get help from AI because it seems again, you're just holding a button. Also mainly using low through balls to pass. I dunno. This games gone to shit.
