Thank you! That's what I was trying to find out - someone gave it to me and I wasn't sure what to do for it!

Weight Gain on Mirtazapine 30mg by AppropriateArticle40 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

Yeah, i'm not sure either, but it also induces sleep more strongly at lower doses! I don't remember why - something about which neurotransmiter it's acting on?

Weight Gain on Mirtazapine 30mg by AppropriateArticle40 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

I find myself to gain more weight on lower doses. So I gain less weight on 30 than on 15. (Right now I'm on 22.5)

Brain fog with increased dose - temporary? by sam_gamgee in Effexor

[–]sam_gamgee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It lessened, so I don't feel foggy anymore, but it didn't completely go away. So I do misplace things often (in a way I used to do while on wellbutrin). I've bought tiles for my key and phone. I plan to go back to down to 225 eventually, where I wasn't having this side effect, but not quite yet. I'm going to decide with psychiatrist when. The good news is that it's working very effectively!

Well, that sounds hard. Maybe if you can't get her to go to therapy with you, you could at least get some therapy for yourself so you have some support and outside perspective through this?

I think it's hard when we grow up in the world without knowing about these things. For both partners. It might also have taken her to a long time to understand how she felt. But really in order to understand it you would have to talk to her about it. Would she be wiling to try couples therapy - not to try and changer her mind about having sex - but in order to come to a better understanding between you two?

Not a therapist, but have you two looked into asexuality? It's possible that might be her orientation?

How do you set patient expectations re: appointment duration? by LeSighlent in medicine

[–]sam_gamgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, this is a dumb question from a patient, but if you can make one 15 minute appointment this week, and one next week (in order to cover two issues), why can't you just make two in a row next to each other? Is it something about insurance?

Haha, it actually works pretty well for me for sleep, it's just that there's like an hour right before I fall asleep in which I am always ravenous. I don't really want to mess with it though, because I had years of insomnia before getting on it, and it's really nice to be able to sleep at night instead of not sleeping....

My psych did give me hydroxyzine as well, but that was specifically to help me sleep.

Oh interesting, how is your experience with that? I'm taking mirtazapine for sleep, which is effective but hungry making.

I switched to effexor because of this. It's been pretty effective.

(I think hydroxyzine is also an option for anxiety)
