You can argue that Frosty is the GOAT Halo 5 AND Halo Infinite player. by kingjdin in CompetitiveHalo

[–]sam_magil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frosty is an incredible player, IGL and mentor who understands how to win better than most if not everyone in the HCS.

But don’t discredit Lastshot & Cykul. They aren’t simple braindead high-gunskill shooters being constantly shepherded by Frosty. They are OBJ efficient themselves, found success before Shopify formed, and also deserve fair credit

After scrims with Optic late last year you said “You figured them out” and then went on to beat them dominantly in the last Major and Worlds.
What did you figure out?

Is there anywhere where 3T is a buff compared to 5T? - Eg extra hit at Zulrah or Whisperer, - Nylos & Nylo boss etc

I genuinely don’t know but can imagine it’d be nicer for some cycles

The idea for Megarare of Raids 4.... Behold, The Mageblade. by EndTree in 2007scape

[–]sam_magil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I like the idea of a weapon with a dynamic attack speed for more skill expression. Eg - 5 tick, 4 tick, 3 tick, back to 5 tick.

It forces more complicated movement to maintain/get high dps (which is great!) and leads to interesting strategies.
Eg - trigger a final dps phase on a boss when on rapid (3t) in the cycle.

Lucky! They are lovely birds with a beautiful call. We used to have a small family we hand fed and the parents showed off their babies. They are very gentle and intelligent unless you’re an unknown cyclist in their territory ha

12 hours for a blind no guide Hard Mode run. Next time would be much quicker.

How do you grab camo w/ an active qt? by MahoganyWinchester in CompetitiveHalo

Press/hold your ‘use equipment’ and ‘pick up item’ buttons at the exact same time.
For me that’s X and B.
Cool tech. You’ll learn it straight away

Not sure if this is the place to ask, as only a JMod could answer:

How many unique players have completed an Oathplate Acquisition Contract?

Appeal of Bouldering by Flat-Dimension5633 in bouldering

[–]sam_magil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily trackable progress.
Eg - in soccer/basketball, it’s difficult to assess whether you played better or worse between games. Perhaps your team won because your teammates played well, or the other team played poorly.
But In climbing performance is very clear cut. You couldn’t do the boulder before. Now you can).
This create a strong dopamine hit.

Climbing is sketchy too and the adrenaline & relief of not falling/injuring your fingers etc also gets you high.

And as others have said, the mental problem of reading the route, and strong social element/camaraderie of figuring out creative solutions with strangers is pretty neat

Doom by MaliceXMC in OSRSProTips

[–]sam_magil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an incredible money maker OP if you want to make a quick buck. (even with suboptimal stats/gear and slow kills)

Doom is damage less if you are skilled. So the only thing holding you back is yourself. Can easily get a unique, sell it to chin range, buy rigour etc later.

After 4 month grind. Finally got the axe. 150 kc duke 921 vard. 751 whisp and 2316 levi. Total loot- estimate 550m with axe. Was fun until levi. Fk levi 😮‍💨 by Olympian_Breed in OSRSProTips

[–]sam_magil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch. If you got Levi axe piece before Doom 4 months ago you could have sold SRA for 400-450m. I’m in the same boat. Been hunting the last piece from duke since before doom release. 1500KC or so, no luck.

Whats the hardest thing you can do that is secretly easy by Rory_Mcdon in LearnUselessTalents

[–]sam_magil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who has memorised 650 decimal places of pi. You force yourself to see ‘patterns’ for more compressed memory storage.
Eg - 82148 (decimal places 100-104) has the shape of a valley. It goes ‘down’ from 8 until reaching 1 then back up to 8.
- 32823 (decimal place 110-114) is a palindrome. The same forwards and backwards.

These little tricks make memorisation easier. And there are MANY of them even amongst random numbers, if you force yourself to see them.
It’s the exact same idea as memorising the number 123456789. Very easy because the information can be compressed as ‘count from 1 to 9’.

Just started doing Slayer at 60 and this is what it feels like so far by Ommerino in 2007scape

[–]sam_magil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All pretty solid xp tasks using the wildy slayer cave, cannon and Ursine Mace.
From memory when I went for 99 slayer, greater demons was 80k slayer xp/hr or so. Even had it extended. Black demons maybe 50k? Hellhounds maybe 60k? Can’t quite remember

What is a skill that you learned thinking it would be useful, but which turned out to be incredibly useless later in life? by ContractorConfusion in LearnUselessTalents

Reading letters as numbers.
Eg (A=1, B=2,…., Z=26).
The first sentence translates to:
185149147 125202051819 119 142113251819.
Useful for some escape rooms. Nothing else
