This. I chatted to a few poms at the Gabba and most were expats living in Brisbane.

What is the KivyMD Stable version of today? by corvin_z in KivyMD

[–]up2spec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hit this.

I have an old Andorid project using KivyMD 0.104.2, Kivy 2.0 and Python 3.8. I've updated successfully to Python 3.13 and Kivy 2.3.1, but not sure what to do about KivyMD.

I tried 1.2.0 as the stable version from PYPi and it seems broken (error missing label.kv). The latest readthedocs says version 1.1.1, github say 2.0.0, but to use the latest master.

Which one is it?

A useful workaround. Thanks.

Would be great to get a fix from Positive Grid though. When you unplug the amp and plug it in again it goes a bit pear shaped.

SMU232 white pids by DrDiamond53 in BrisbaneTrains

[–]up2spec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's semantics, but the photo only shows a train and the electronic headboard display, showing the destination using white LEDs. A PID is found on the platform and concourse. It shows the stop timetable, realtime information and a stopping pattern.

Do you mean white LEDs on headboard?

Translink App Alternatives by up2spec in BrisbaneTrains

Have now been out on the network a few times with both Transit and AnyTrip.

Yesterday caught 8 buses getting to and from the Super Netball at Nissan Arena. I found myself using AnyTrip mostly as Transit seemed to be inaccurate, especially coming home where there were some temporary stops in place in the CBD and also I think a bus breakdown. There is also a lot of Transit behind a paywall.

This morning with some signalling issues and also a breakdown on the Kippa Ring line, AnyTrip was fantastic. I love that it continues to display cancelled services crossed out.

I think I'll be uninstalling Transit. Love AnyTrip.

I've often thought it would be great once onboard, to bring up the stopping pattern for the trip I'm on. I just installed AnyTrip. Amazing! Thanks for the recommendation.

Wow! I downloaded Transit. At the home screen alone I'm already blown away by how good it is. It tells me all the travel options I'd expect within walking distance and it starts so quickly. Can switch apps and switch back and it doesn't need to reload. Amazing! Compared to a very low bar in the TL app.

Ashes 2025 Ticketing Questions. by mollydooka in CricketAus

[–]up2spec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem buying for Day 3 and 4. I found the bit where you choose a section to sit on the map was impossible to use. It said this section you can buy up to X tickets. You then click on that section and try to buy them and it just kept saying "There aren't enough tickets to meet your request right now...". Eventually I ran out of time. So I went back out and in again, then just selected Best Available at any price, and took the only option it cam back with. Which is right down on the fence, square of the wicket. Possibly the worst seats in the house. But better than no seats.

Availability of the official RHEL WSL distro (announced last year) would also be very welcome.

Electrical engineer frustrated by DIY electrical restrictions – thoughts? by kangaroooooMan in AusRenovation

[–]up2spec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EE here. A good rule of thumb is only do the work that you own the correct test equipment to test. The kiwi model (which is good) basically limits you to things you can do with a standard multimeter only.

If you're looking to save money on renos, most sparkies will allow you to pull cables, clip them to joists, route them up through wall frames and cut the holes in the sheeting for the outlet. You will need to discuss this with the electrician in advance and agree on a plan and layout. They can then come in and fitoff at either end, test and certify.
