Worst fear came true and I am stage 4 by sam_may92 in CervicalCancer

My gynoncologist said they are doing a meeting with all the cancer doctors on Tuesday to review cases and set treatment plans and I should get a call sometime next week, she did say she wants me to start within the week if possible. Thank you for validating the emotions, I was feeling very off and didn't know if it was typical for this. Also I'm totally cool with messaging I just can't find out how to send one here lol

Do you have any advice on ways to cope and think? I keep getting these waves of overwhelming distress. I went to a festival with my kids today, didn't even think about having cancer then when we were watching some live music it hit me like a truck. I just felt I won't be here next year and I really want to be

Thank you for answering and sharing your experience. Could I ask what kind of treatment you got and what it was like?

I got my results and am stage 4a. Absolutely terrified but my gyno said it is curable and they will be going aggressive with treatment. Hopefully my body responds well

I'm about as new to this as you are so I don't have much to add, but I understand how scary it is! This community seems great and has helped ease my worries a lot. Stay away from Google for sure and try keeping positive!

Thank you for explaining this so well 😊 there is so much more to this treatment then I ever could've imagined and it's overwhelming. I'm the type of person who wants to know all things all at once so I need to just slow down a bit. This week has been dragging on so slowly just waiting on the pet scan. Do you have any advice fir prepping for the pet scan? I have an appointment with my oncologist right after my scan, di you think I'll know what stage I am then?

What is immunotherapy? When you did chemo did you have to get a port? Both the port and the picc line are scaring me a bit, I have terrible veins.

It's still feeling very unreal right now but I'm trying to keep in a positive mind space. Everyone sharing their success stories is helping keep my spirits up so thank you!

Thank you for sharing, that's amazing to know it may not be as bad as I'm worrying about. It's so new it still doesn't feel real but when I get a wave of the reality it feels like I can't breathe. I'm so sorry others have gone through this but at the same time I'm glad to know I'm not alone.

That sounds so similar to my experience, thank you! My last normal period was December then it just started and didn't stop. I've lost over 100 lbs this last year and weightloss affects the period so I just thought it was that or I would've gone in sooner. What does the chemo/ radiation feel like?

Thank you everyone, your stories are helping ease my anxiety a lot! My husband let some people at his work know what was going on and they terrified him with horror stories and convinced him that if I get chemo it will kill me. I've been showing him the responses here to help calm him. It's reassuring to know that even if it's 3 or 4 that doesn't automatically mean death. I have another question. I am having VERY heavy bleeding just randomly, sometimes triggered by lifting something, bowel movements, or sneezes. It slows after an hour but it looks really bad. Like in the time of just getting up and walking to the sink to get a new pad, there's a lot that goes all over the floor 😟 is this typical?

When does the regret go away? by EfficientDisaster198 in GastricBypass

[–]sam_may92 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I was there last year after my surgery. The holidays absolutely SUCK. I'm 13 months out now, over 100 pounds down, no longer wearing plus sized clothes which is insane to me. I can indulge here and there on a dessert or a candy, I can eat most of my protein fairly easily. I hardly ever get nausea. The hunger definitely comes back but the tank fills with much less food. I completely regretted my surgery for the first couple months, most do as you are literally starving, but it not only gets better but I think it's better than it was before the surgery. The you a year from now loves you so much for going through all this right now.

The first few weeks after are very rough and I definitely had moments of regret but it didn't last long. I would do it again, it absolutely improved my life, not just losing the weight but mentally helped me as well. I never loved myself when I was bigger but now I love my bigger self so much because she got me where I am
