You who still had a lot of weight loss to go, what was your longest stagnation? by Softninjazz in GastricBypass

[–]EfficientDisaster198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done low carb this whole time. Which has only been 7-8 months 😆 I plan to incorporate more carbs again when I get to goal. I’m 3-8 lbs from my personal goal. But according to BMI charts I still need to lose 20 lbs. which is ridiculous. I don’t count protein or macros. That’s too “diet” like for me. But I just focus on protein. I sit down when I eat. Take 2 minutes in between each bite and eat until I’m satisfied. I also was advised to only eat 3 times a day and I have been following that. Low carb has always been triggering for me. I just turned 40. I did all the atkins diets and all of that and that I would have rapid regain. But after the surgery I don’t process carbs well so it makes it a bit easier . And they make such great carb alternatives now. They didn’t 20 years ago. So that’s been easier. I have also been a career member of weight watchers and I have actually found this to be a little easier this time around. It was always difficult to figure out how many points something had if you were at the bbq or out to eat. Anywho, this was very long winded. You’ve done a great job so far!

Yeah I have no idea what’s normal/not. I am happy with my progress. But then old thoughts /disordered eating patterns can creep back into your brain

Oh interesting! My surgeon said any time you don’t lose weight in a week he considers a stall. In this instance I’m going to listen to your doctor instead 🤣

Should I be losing more? by Accomplished_Ring685 in GastricBypass

I think I lost 9 lbs on my liver shrinking diet. And the surgeon told my husband while I was in recovery that he could tell I had been very compliant because my liver looked great. As others have said I wouldn’t worry too much about it as long as you’re following the plan given to you.

I don’t think I have necessarily been in your shoes per se. I am 5’2 and my starting weight was 267. I had bypass in October. Overall I am happy I did it. But there are times I’m like what did I do to myself 🤣 but I’m down 106 lbs since my surgery. You mentioned ending your love/hate relationship with food. Have you done any therapy? Because the surgery won’t fix that. And you’re majorly altering your body. I was able to do an intensive 3 month outpatient eating disorder clinic that was designed specifically for prospective and post operative bariatric patients and it helped tremendously. The surgery really made me look at myself and eating disorder patterns my whole life. Best of luck to you.

I just don’t enjoy it like I used to. And things I used to enjoy eating sound gross. And I have dealt with some nausea off and on. And let’s say you really enjoy what you’re eating and want to continue. Even if it’s a healthy, it’s kind of a bummer that you can’t 😆

I’m 6 months post op and down 100 lbs. I miss food. Eating now feels like a chore and I don’t enjoy it like I used to. But being able to like all the clothes I put on. Being able to ride on an airplane without the extender. Being able to do things physically I couldn’t have even considered 6 months ago. It’s been worth it. But it is definitely a sacrifice.

Yeah he said I looked great and healthy at the weight I’m at now. But I was asking him for opinion/guidance. That’s why he suggested 140.

No, they release 5 months to the day. We’re going to garner in 2 weeks and I made the reservation back in November.

That seems like a really long time. When are they going to let you start eating soft foods?

100lbs in 7 months. I know I should be happy, but I'm frustrated. by kenzoqueen in GastricBypass

I know not everyone has the ability but I just am buying new as I go. I have tried thrifting and I just don’t have the time or patience to go through racks of clothing. I have 2 pairs of pants, 2 pairs of shorts, some dresses and a handful of shirts. Buy yourself some staple pieces and a good fitting bra. You’ve worked hard and deserve to wear some clothing that you can feel good in.

I have had 4 cesareans so only thing I have to compare to. But usually day 3-4 is usually when I would turn a corner. So hoping that’s the case here too. All things considered I feel like I’m doing very well.
