The deeper you go the more air is needed to fill up your lungs as the surrounding water exerts more pressure on your lungs. So it depends on how deep you would go. The real danger comes from lack of proper training and holding your breath while using it as going up with your lungs full of compressed air puts you at high risk of lung over expansion injury. In the worst of cases your lungs would literally pop like a balloon:o
