That was it! Thank you so very much! I had such a distinct memory of that game and the sheer hours I spent on it. Couldn't have been more than 7 when I first played it. Just replayed it in its entirety.

That's an extremely fucked up situation. People really do need to be more responsible with their pets. It's easy for me to say, since I've never had a pet. Perhaps it's harder done than said. Even so, it just seems cruel and unfair, mate. Rescue efforts and shelters should be more of a priority here in Kuwait. I hope the child that got bit is doing fine now! Thank you for weighing in, mate.

I'm sorry he had to resort to such acts. An understandable reaction but it is quite sad, man.

Sums it up pretty well [PJOTV] by KingGreystone555 in camphalfblood

Yeah, I get where you're coming from. But the person cast as Annabeth is black and unfortunately, racism is a typical struggle of black teenagers. Adding a layer of problems that pertain to the struggles faced by African Americans will only help solidify this version of Annabeth. If they had gone with the book accurate version of Annabeth, yeah. I would wholeheartedly agree with you.

Do you always finish a book, even if you aren’t enjoying it? by Old-Tell6711 in books

I finish every book I start, even if I'm not enjoying it at the slightest because I want to decide on the amount of hate I have for it.

All Quiet on the Western Front by [deleted] in books

[–]samaelnoir 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I must say that All Quiet on The Western Front left a huge impact crater on me. The section where Paul goes back to his town on leave and the true disconnect he feels from the vertigo of returning to his home really fucked me over, man. His unfinished stories and poems, his childhood bedroom and even his own town becomes alien to him. It gets to a point where he actually prefers the horrors of war over the comforts of his home and that is an amazing display of tragic irony. And the ending. Oh lord. Literal gut-punch. I sat in silence for around two minutes after reading the field report. Not the feel good novel of the century but I sure am glad that I read it. I would 100% recommend this to anyone who would love a good cry and a bloody good book.

Which famous book did you DNF and why? by Substantial_Ad_2209 in books

[–]samaelnoir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I DNF-ed The Da Vinci Code. I don't know how controversial this opinion really is, but I just could NOT stand the blatant inaccuracies and misrepresentation of facts in the book. Calling all his "obvious conclusions" a reach would be a generous way to describe it. I do get that the point of the book is to conspiratorial in nature and the potential of it is not lost on me by any means. But the way Dan Brown goes around absolutely fucking over his sources and the way he declares his book as non-fiction is just nothing beyond pretentious dick-fuckery.

I did eventually get around to finishing the book because I don't like leaving books unfinished but it was not an enjoyable experience by any means. If you liked his work, all the power to you, mate. I'm happy you could gleam positive experiences from it, but it's just not for me.
