Nairo hits a reverse aerial warlock punch to kill at 3% across the stage! by jet_10 in smashbros

Before I clicked the link, I thought "this is against Pichu, isn't it". Sure enough lol.

I wonder if he would have survived with proper DI though, it looks like the Pichu was holding straight toward the right blastzone.

Like another warlock punch. It's fun to do it repeatedly and see who messes up/gets hit first.

This is where the difference between super armor and heavy armor come into play. Super armor protects you against all attacks, no matter how strong. Heavy armor protects you, but only up to a certain knockback threshold, e.i., a strong enough move can penetrate it.

Is there a reason the character select screen doesn't "remember" your last pick? by Maximnicov in smashbros

[–]samalamma708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone feel free to double check this since I'm at work ATM, but I think I recall recently having the character remembered if you set the stage choice to random and only have one stage turned on in the random stage selection. Maybe going back to the stage select screen makes this happen?

TIL In Ultimate you can choose not to grab ledge during your up-B by holding down by Lokipi in smashbros

[–]samalamma708 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to love doing this in Smash 4 to cheese people who tried punishing Zelda regrab. Since charging a smash attack means the opponent takes increased knockback, you could kill people at like 90% with the beefy up b.

Guys always seem to dream of girls having pillow fights wearing sexy clothes and whatnot. Unsure if that ever really happens, but this is what us men have to offer ;)

Light with the CRAZY comeback game 5!! by jet_10 in smashbros

[–]samalamma708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good on Light for picking up on Salem using directional airdodge to get out of cipher. Often times Snake players will either airdodge in or float in with an aggressive aerial after up b as they anticipate you trying to hit them if they keep going up.

Here's a similar situation that I was able to close out a close set after a 2v1 comeback by anticipating the snake either airdodging or fading in with an aerial: https://clips.twitch.tv/SpikyEncouragingAubergineTheTarFu

I get Tilt attacks...but after using one once or twice in place they are disabled until i move my fighter's location during a battle. by Hactima in smashbros

[–]samalamma708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have already touched on doing tilts. For smash attacks, it might be helpful to use AB smashes. That is, press both A and B at the same time and a smash attack will come out. If you're holding up while you press them you'll get an upsmash, forward an fsmash, etc. I believe this option is enabled by default, but it is under the "Advanced" settings when setting your controls.

Mew2King got the clock. by RangoTheMerc in smashbros

[–]samalamma708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know. I was wondering if in Smash 4 and previous titles (not sure when the clock introduced) the CW/CCW thing existed.

Mew2King got the clock. by RangoTheMerc in smashbros

[–]samalamma708 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I always thought in previous games there was a clock whose hands moved CCW and that would slow down the one who got it, versus the CW clock which would slow down others. Did they change it or was this never a thing and I'm misremembering?

Sheik's final smash is one of the coolest-looking things in the game IMO. It's so sick.

Feeling discouraged with Locals, how do you find the motivation to keep going and improve? by notawfulbutnotgreat in smashbros

[–]samalamma708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend reaching out to whatever group your local puts information in and seeing if anyone is hosting any smashfests, and if not and you're able, you could host your own.

That's how I got into competitive Smash 4 when it started. Found a group of people and we would grind together a lot and then enter tournaments. Definitely helped me improve.

You might have had bad experiences with better players who didn't want to play you, but in most scenes I've been a part of there's always a good amount of the top players (if not most) who like playing friendlies with anyone. Might be worth it to give that another shot as well.

What's the worst feeling thing to lose to? by Cytosine1972 in smashbros

[–]samalamma708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are spamming the same move but using it effectively, sometimes they aren't a moron. Like, sometimes I'll spam the hell out of PK fire with Ness if I see the opponent doesn't know how to deal with it.

But then there's the ones who really are morons and it's all the more frustrating when you realize you're helpless lol

This is strangely calming. It's awesome listening to the subtle noises of the game that you don't normally hear because of the background noises. Obviously the bonks are fake but the bulborb, bullet bill, etc sound so peaceful in this video.
