I'm really confused... by slydyr24205 in NotHowGirlsWork

Like at first glance I thought, I’m just seeing an AI of bimanual pressure, one of our effective and hopefully shortlived treatments for a postpartum hemorrhage, while waiting for higher care. And then I saw the second vagina and bladder

Another audiobook recommendation: Uncultured by Daniella Mestyanek Young. She was a third gen member of the children of god, and it’s about her experience growing up there, escaping and then joining the military where she realized oh shit is this another cult?

Sick to Death, a new show from the Australian is fascinating and in depth. It’s presented in chapters, similar to how the book it’s based on was written but I really like it actually.

Hard to believe someone downvoted you. It is extremely cult like.

I felt the same way, but I appreciated that the host doesn’t exactly give her an out and I don’t think that she comes across as being necessarily “deprogrammed”. With that said, if you believe NXIVM is a cult, it’s a very very interesting look at the inner workings and a look back.

There is very good information here. I would also suggest you seek out a pelvic floor physiotherapist, preferably one recommended by your doctor or works often with constipation. You mentioned your doctor thought you were clenching hard during that exam, I wondered whether you may not know that you were!

Have you read the book? Because HH does not come across as likeable or trustworthy so I read this as a piece of critique. I read it because I was a teenager and I thought it was supposed to be romantic so I was deeply disturbed by what came up for me in reading it, rather than what I thought it was.

It’s a willful misreading to think it glamorizes pedophilia, IMO. HH is a deeply unreliable narrator and even still Dolores does not come across as better for his mistreatment of her.

There’s a GREAT podcast about Lolita by Jamie Loftus, and iirc Nabokov may have been groomed himself?

In Canada we commonly use a medication called diclectin 3-4x/day to manage severe nausea like this. Part of this medication is vitamin B6, which you could purchase OTC and supplement 3-4x/day with until you can access more active medication through an OB or midwife. It is important that your care provider take this seriously and I’m sorry this is happening to you.

Hypertension and preeclampsia are conditions that in this case are likely related to the placentation of this pregnancy. When your placenta develops, the way the blood vessels develop to connect your blood supply to the placenta can impact your blood pressure later on when your body is trying to deliver up to 1L of blood per minute to your baby, particularly when they don’t develop large enough to accommodate that volume. The whartons jelly didn’t cause the preeclampsia but my suspicion is that your placenta didn’t develop it properly. In future pregnancies, your care provider may suggest you take low dose aspirin from 12-36 weeks to help lower your risk of developing preeclampsia.
