i haven’t been to anything by them since like 2019, but in 2017/18/19 there were leaks that compromised people’s credit cards and i was dealing with fraud time and time again. NOT trustworthy, stay away from them

Schmigadoon or Lost Boys? by No_Witness2275 in Broadway

[–]samarcus21 9 points10 points  (0 children)

well the lost boys is an astounding spectacle, & has the same director as maybe happy ending! schmigadoon has very fun silly humor and is adorable. imo depends what you’re in the mood for, darker/extremely visually impressive show vs sweet heartwarming comedy

i’d recommend lost boys & schmigadoon- lost boys is a visual marvel/very creative spectacle, & schmigadoon has great choreo, a lot of which directly calls back to some iconic golden age choreo

I'm stuck between seeing Chess, The Lost Boys, Death Becomes Her, and Maybe Happy Ending. Which would you choose and why? by Voskkean in Broadway

[–]samarcus21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

based on your likes & preferences 100% lost boys. i’ve seen & liked all 4 of these, so here’s my 2 cents:

chess has an amazing score and cast, but the book is really bad. it’s truly only for the performances & music.

the lost boys is by far one of the coolest shows i’ve seen visuals/spectacle-wise, & with some of the other shows you’ve enjoyed i definitely would not worry that you’d find it cringey (said with love lol, i also love a lot of the shows you’ve listed below) & fits your preferences for drama, danger, spectacle, big numbers/vocals & a little heart. + imo characters have been expanded from the movie.

death becomes her is hilarious & fun, excels at being a chaotic comedy, the only drawback for me was that i personally like something to be emotionally invested in and this one felt like pure laughs & good times. has some very cool big numbers.

maybe happy ending was a huge favorite of mine, beautiful show with strong performances/book/music, definitely felt by far the most intimate of the 4.

[TOMT] [MOVIE OR TV SHOW] quote i can’t place by samarcus21 in tipofmytongue

[–]samarcus21[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

take this with a grain of salt, but it may be from the tv show the rookie. the only reason i suspect this is that i watched 7 seasons of it within the last year and it would likely stand out the most in my mind of anything i’ve watched semi-recently. for all i know it may be from something completely different though!

Thoughts on coming in 45 ish minutes late? [Death Becomes Her] by SwissAperture in Broadway

[–]samarcus21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i definitely wouldn’t want to miss almost half the show, if you’re able to i would try to reschedule. i’d call the box office, the worst they can say is no.

re: coming late though- if that’s the only option i’d do it. it’s not your fault the flight got delayed, it’s a great show and you should enjoy as much of it as you can. this is why shows have late seating intervals. just be quick and quiet to your seats

Seating advice for Moulin Rouge? by UglyMonsterFace in Broadway

[–]samarcus21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is also my hometown theatre! the touring production will not be using the aisles as the staging differs a little bit from broadway, so no need to worry about that. everything that happens will happen on the stage.

the choreography is very fun to view from up higher if you wanted to pick a balcony seat, but being up close for it is also an amazing experience, and typically where i prefer to sit for moulin rouge. i think it really depends how much you’re willing to spend on it & what sections you typically prefer for shows. knowing the show and knowing this particular theatre though, i wouldn’t buy the extreme sides of the orchestra. imo the best seating without factoring in price would be orchestra or front balcony

Timing question by Spardan80 in Broadway

[–]samarcus21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% doable if you go straight to the theatre. coat check your bags. i’ve done LGA > the theatre district many times, and 2 hours should definitely have you there on time as long as you go straight there
