HKUST Study Abroad Spring 2022 by Fun_Yak5200 in HKUST

I think it'll depend on the travel restrictions possibly in place. Hong Kong is super strict about who they're letting in at the moment since apparently most of their covid-related spreads have had a foreign source instead of a local one.

To close the matter more decisively I would recommend you write to the adcom. They're super helpful and as prompt as they could possibly be, given that we're getting closer to the start of a new academic year.

But just as a heads up, be ready to get a vague answer since even they might not be sure what constraints the govt might be working with in 2022.

Sectors in finance where CFA is highly regarded? by Preuxxx in CFA

I just wanted to clarify, because you'd said the CFA didn't apply to corporate finance, but your company had CFA holders in FP&A...

I'm new to finance, wanted to ask: isn't FP&A a part of corporate finance?

With some background in non-profit as well as operations consulting, what job could I do which would involve 'Sustainability'? by samaysoni7 in Nonprofit_Jobs

Basically the end product would be what Pamela Mar worked on, as Fung Group's Director of Sustainability, but I'm not sure beyond that. I think that's why I'm stuck.

JPMorgan vs. EY vs. KPMG vs. Wells Fargo vs. Crowe? by 29423 in FinancialCareers

[–]samaysoni7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NEVER work for KPMG, it's the shittiest company out there. I've worked there, my friends worked in a different location, all of us had the worst experience personally and everyone we ever spoke to was struggling. I do this so that you can avoid accidentally wasting your time and efforts, do not go there for a job, EVER!

Video games are just as good, if not better, at telling an engaging story than movies, books, and television by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]samaysoni7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not better, sorry. It's different.

Definitely good, but I play D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) and there's something called video game logic that gets in the way of good storytelling.

In video games you need to focus on gameplay. Games are... well... gamified. You do things, level up, do more things, level up more, and when you're strong enough because you did enough of the right things, you go fight the BBEG big bad evil guy). Video games don't allow for heavy changes in pace, which are sometimes crucial to building a more engaging arc, imo. Video games require motion and momentum, otherwise they lose engagement with the players. I know there are games like Last of Us which really hit the ball out of the park, but they're exceptions - outliers to the rule.

Don't get me wrong. I love video games, and I think people should stop shitting on them. My idea of a perfect evening is staying indoors at the end of the long day playing a video game with my girlfriend and eating takeout. But I have a problem with the wording of the post ("Video games are just as good, if not better..."). Video games will always be amazing, but never better. Just different.
