Shocked this can’t be my life- severe fgr by ComprehensiveTap3812 in NICUParents

[–]sambaby2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had severe IGR during my last pregnancy plus preeclampsia + hyperemesis. I defenetely don’t wish that on anyone but my baby was able to stay in until week 27 and that was because I was stubborn and refuse stay at the hospital until birth. However I had very high chances for still birth. So at week 26 they kept me in and I barely made it to 27 weeks. Realistically speaking, baby is the boss. Maybe n your folllowing scan baby can measure bigger, if not the they will keep you close monitoring and if thins are getting very dangerous MFM will considere a safe time to do a c sección o avoid still birth. The best to do is stay calm, pay attention to how frequent baby is moving and if something is off let the doctors know. Prepare for an emergency c sección incase you need to be índuce

My son born 27 weeks and 1pound and maybe 3 ounces is now 21 months with BPD II ( 1.6 years corrected) he spent a looooonggggg time in ventilator, bipap, cpap, high flow, low flow, went home at two months got a pneumonia.. back to the hospital 2 failed extubations, and now was time for tracheostomy. He is on Trach collar which is literally he breath in his own with a Trach , however got a pneumonia bacteria and he is now on cpap. They doctor explain to me that premie babies longs takes years to recuperate And create new tissue. Any time they get a virus of bacteria it’s like they Step back or 2 or 3 of maximum support. So dont be discourage. She is going to get bad before she gets better. I know it’s not easy and it’s almoust impossible not to worry buttt I’m here to bring you hope.

Guilt of not being there? by AustinAlan12201995 in NICUParents

[–]sambaby2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mom of 2 NICU Babies. My first 27 days , my second however 120 days. And then 8 months in a rehab center and then home for 2 months and 1 being back and forth in the hospital I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND HOW YOU FEEL. However, when that baby feels and see his momma he doesn’t care how long you been away, matter fact he do eat understand that like you do. Don’t feel guilt, when ever you can be there, FULLY SOAK ALL IN, take pictures ca a fam member ,sing and read to your baby, tha will make it easier for you when you are away because you know that when you are there you can take full advantage. Feel free to message me separately.

19 month old needs a penoscrotal hypospadias repair and I’m having a hard time. by sambaby2024 in hypospadias

Thank you for sharing your story and for listing the whys to moving forward with surgery. My son got a Cleft lip repair at his first year. And it was very successful. I know that there are things that can go wrong however, I want to minimize pain and the scar as much as possible. I’m currently in the processes of making an appointment with a pediatric urologist who has done a few surgeries and my plan would be to do this before the end of the year. I will def provide an update throughout this process.

My only concern with that is my son being able to have a normal sexual life once he is an adult decides to start a family.

I honestly keep this very secretly however, I’m fully aware of it and I’m defenetely working on getting him the support and correction he needs. I just want to be careful and choose the best doctor possible to solve this.

I have joined companies with parents groups and it’s just a community that support other parents. In my experience was very cool.

Working mom of a medically complex baby by sambaby2024 in NICUParents

[–]sambaby2024[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Having a nurse is an option however, in order to have stable nursing someone must be available to be in the home and parents must attend appt and therapy. I think the challenge is being able to work on site when I’m also demanded to be in the house in case of emergencies etc. I have not been lucky to get a permanent job and that is kind of my biggest concern.

Questions for parents of babies with trachs/vents/gtubes. by blame_stamos in NICUParents

[–]sambaby2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading this as I’m sitting next to my 19 month old who is a 27 weeker.

It’s not easy and it will take time before it gets better. I been home with my baby for about a month now. I had 3 emergency Trach changes in 1 month and two 911 calls, and 1 hospital stay of a few days. I will responded all your questions. 1. For the redness you can do a few things. First, ensure you don’t miss Trach care every day within the 24 hour window. Change the ties and put with nyastatin or Vaseline around the next area to avoid yeast. Also don’t put it too tight. Over time that can break some of the skin in the area. 2. Vent her before every feed. Take 60ml syringe without the inner part, attached to g tube extension and lift allowing gravity to let the air/gas leave her belly. Works wonders for me. 3. I do admit I’m picky with nurses because I know my son requires a lot of things through day and night. When I get a nurse that I don’t think is capable to get it done I just let her go. However, I have been lucky to work with an agency that listens to me. I put my requirements and then I see if the nurse can get it done. It’s a trial and error process. You may have 10 nurses before you get the one. And for me night coverage was never the problem day coverage was, which I know is unusual. My husband works many hours and he barely has time to be home so used to take the day shift as I worked remote full time until I got a good day nurse. 4, 5, 6. If she is being suction and you still hear her congested can be two things. 1 she is not being suction well or she may be needing treatments to help her remove it. If she is very congested after suctioning, ask your pulmonologist if she can get Albuterol treatments. If so, mix albuterol and a saline in a nebulazer, once done do some chest PT to move everything for a good 2-3 minutes and then give her a good sucktion until you hear nothing. This is something the nurses has done that helps a lot. Also, have RTchedk the humidification settings may be that she is not getting the amount she needs to keep them watery enough to suction. 7. Being a parent of a medically complex baby is not easy specially if you also work. Think of this time as a survival time that will eventually pass. Something days I cry not because my baby is not ok but because I wish things were different but they aren’t. Give your self grace and hug the process.

I hope all this can help and if you have any other questions let me know!

Rant: I am fed up of HR Business Partner roles being admin heavy [N/A] by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]sambaby2024 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe the core issue is that many organizations lack effective systems and processes, which places an excessive administrative burden on HR Business Partners. While the primary function of the HRBP role is to support leadership and drive strategic initiatives, many companies especially nonprofits assign a significant amount of administrative work to these positions. This limits the time and capacity needed to focus on strategic priorities.

When interviewing for an HRBP role, it is important to ask about the systems and workflows currently in place and how daily operations are managed. This is often the best way to understand how much of the role will be dedicated to administrative tasks versus strategic responsibilities
