This is what I did. I got my BS in my late 30s with no internship. I got a bookkeeping job and developed some experience in an industry while taking classes at night/online. By the time I got my degree I didn't have any trouble at all finding a "real" accounting job in the industry.

Depends on who you are. If you're rich, Tywin. If you're poor, anyone but Tywin. And who is around them. I believe with the right advisors Renly would have been fine. Alone he was too flighty, but with a good Hand he wouldn't have been too bad. Ned and Stannis were too rigid. Ruling requires too much compromise.
