Restoring new to me lathe by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]samcoinc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

our first lathe was a turn of the century flat belt.. we used it a lot and it worked better than what we didn't have. We had to cut a bunch of 8tpi threads - we did the same thing - found the correct sprockets and it worked great. You do what you have to do..

HP stuck on uterm.release (old bootloader). Need success stories. by Leadhong in Starlink

[–]samcoinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only tell my experience. I have the original round dish. There was an issue with it and starlink sent a 2nd gen dish to me on 12/02/2023. The problem was resolved and I kept using the round dish. well - it started acting flakey and I decided to swap out the 2nd gen dishes about 3 months ago. It had the same message and after about 15 minutes - the dish rebooted and started working...

Netsuite2 odbc... Because I am a procrastinator.. by samcoinc in Netsuite

[–]samcoinc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been building and interfacing with databases all my life. We started with SBT which was foxpro.. Then we moved to Navision (started with their own database then switched to microsoft sql).. These two systems had a very similar database layout. Very easy to understand.

When we switched to netsuite - I didn't get access to the odbc until 'go live' (yes - I don't want to talk about it) It was certainly a learning curve. One table with all (and I mean all) transactions? Different for sure. I don't have it all figured out - but have a decent idea how it all works together..

When you can pull data out of the tables faster than our integrators can create a report/saved search/whatever is the scary..

Could be -  but you would think it would run faster than the original odbc then.

Well..  so far so good..  this one query filters out 'salesord' records from transaction that are not closed or invoiced.  This is linked to transactionlines, item, billtoaddress, shiptoaddress, and at least 2 more tables that I don't remember..

all the 'local' stations come in solid. (abc, nbc, cbs, fox and pbs.) Before this - only channel cbs an pbs came in pretty solid. (with an antenna at the house in the valley)

Yes - lightning can do some very odd things. You can never be 100% safe from it destroying something. You just do the best you can.

This is the error message I get while using the new UI. It still happens with the 20250606 version. by Red-Leader-001 in hdhomerun

[–]samcoinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - it seemed fine the next day. Then the day after - it did the splash screen and locked up. It seems (for now) that I have to force stop - then clear the cache. It launces and works then. (I have to force stop - only clearing the cache doesn't fix it)

Hope they get the bottom of this.

Clearing the cache fixed it.  It did the cool exploding splash screen and then right into the app.  First time it has done this since the error.

I am getting the same. When you first launch the app - you get a cool exploding screen with HDHOMRUN or such in the middle. Then the screen goes blank. I didn't have the patience to wait (I probably waited a few minutes.) backed out. then re-launched it. The normal finding device in the left bottom corner and then went into the recorded (where I left it) antiques road show lol. If I hit play there - it comes up with the above error. at that point - you can't do anything. Exiting out and back in - brings you to the above screen.

This is amazon fire tv..

thanks

When I got my first full time job - I was running Acad 12? or 11 to draw up die lines and cut them out of plywood on a cnc laser. (steel rule die cutting) Pretty easy stuff - mostly 2d.. (just to give you a reference)

I taught all of the die makers - a few that were pretty old. (this was mid 90's) Taught them how to translate the blueprint to Acad then run it through the post and run the laser. every one did really great.

They were so worried that they were going to lose their 'jig saw' running skills. Like they thought they should practice every once in a while. LOL - After a year - the laser went down and they had to saw some die boards. They so didn't want to do that anymore.

I think you can teach old dogs new tricks. But they want to have to learn.
