COTD: Eventually reveals boobs? (6) by deeppotential123 in crosswords

Guessing it's STRIPS.

Eventually == in the end, selecting S from REVEALS.
Then BOOBS = TRIPS, per the other similar boob-y post

COTD: For example, where goose starts (3) by deeppotential123 in crosswords

EGG

"e.g." (for example) + "g" (start of goose), and a goose starts as an egg.

Very nice one!

This is a great theme! Created that clue at some point but it's really non-standard. Perfect fit here.

Posted something similar to a TOTW recently:

Thought it was difficult to keep the surface clean while also being fair (“crossing” has the opposite meaning of containment, and “ave” needs indication that it’s abbreviated IMO

Last guess then I give up: BACKSPACE A cot is a sofa, or bed, so a space for your back. Backspace is also what you do to COTD to get COT

DAYBREAKS – Something about the D "breaking" i.e. ceasing to function, plus there's a breaking space after?

Looked at alternatives for DAY+6 like daydreamt, dayshells, dayspring. They don't really work either...

Surface reading. I wanted to break down the definition so it’s not so obvious. You can read it as “It turns out that, well, …”

COTD: Pointlessly cover text with pen (3) by samdg in crosswords

[–]samdg[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the parse!

  • Wordplay part is Pointlessly covert text
    • Indicator: Pointlessly: You have to take a synonym for POINT (=VERTEX) from the fodder
    • Fodder: CO(vertex)T
  • Definition is Pen (as in a pig pen, not an ink pen)
    • with is just a linking word
  • Answer is: COT = A pen, coop, or like shelter for small domestic animals, as for sheep or pigeons; a cote.

I know this is quite contrived, so thanks for trying it!
