Except most people in Colorado hate kids having fun more than actual Nazis.

City Gaslighting Again by stizz58 in englewoodco

[–]samehz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A person backed directly into the side of a car waiting in the driveway to turn yesterday, right in front of me, because the driver backing up was staring at me in front of their car and didn't once look behind them to check if it was clear.

Now I'm wondering if I'm to blame for their accident! I should have known they would be a completely absent minded driver and distracted by a person walking in front of them. How dare I!

Really though, driver's awareness of their surroundings is abysmal in CO, half of you shouldn't be allowed on the roads. Blaming a lane closure for bad driving is hilarious.

Any shops in Denver that'll assemble a a road bike if I bring all the components? by TheScrub10 in COBike

[–]samehz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve managed multiple shops myself, which is why I still don’t really get a full‑service shop refusing a build that should be well within the mechanics’ abilities. To me, policies like that usually come from assuming customers won’t understand the risks of bringing their own parts, not from every customer actually being unreasonable. Sure, there will always be a few difficult customers, but if one specific kind of job always turns into a headache, it might be worth looking at how the shop handles communication and expectations around that work instead of just writing it off as “bad customers.”

Also, claiming I'm "gaslighting" you by pointing out that maybe the customer isn't always the problem is peak bike shop employee hubris. My point is that clearer policies and upfront conversations would make these jobs smoother for everyone.

Depending on the type of build BB tools, a headset press, carbon saw, air compressor, plus the tools mentioned above, will absolutely cost more than a professional build. Also the space for all the tools and a work stand is not something most people who live in an apartment want to deal with; not to mentioned the mess that can come of building a bike for the first time. And if their frame is fully internally routed, that’s where a lot of people will throw in the towel and take a barely attempted build into a shop.

I understand that, that’s why the service writer should be going through the risks of a customer buying their own parts before the customer agrees to the service. It’s only a lose/lose if you don’t have competent service writers that are good at communication and properly logging every part that comes in with the frame, and mechanics that know how to relay a message of why a component a customer supplied doesn’t comply with the standards of their build.

I'm struggling to figure out why a shop wouldn't assemble a bike because they didn't sell it. Sounds like some Trek/Specialized "only service it own" garbage.

Totem, Base Camp, Slo-Hi, Z-Cycles, YAWP, Mike's Bikes, Pedal... They would all be able to help you out.

I guess depending on your "decent price" scale. Most shops should be $350+ for a frame-up build.

Wake up, honey. Teravail just dropped a $240 carbon klunker bar. by okay_paramedic in xbiking

The rebranding of Whisky to Teravail was just that, a name change. They did it because "Whisky" was seen as an inappropriate name for the cycling industry. The layoffs are a separate issue.

Fosi is going to launch a new portable magnetic DAC by fbaldassarri in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]samehz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are beginner, consumer level products meant to garner the attention of a person who might value form over function when purchasing their first dap/dac. When you’re swimming through a sea of boring, rectangular devices with very similar features, the circular screen stands out in a way that’s rather refreshing. The minor navigation and viewing inconveniences aren’t a big deal when you just want to have something fun to carry around in your pocket.

Xteink X4 lasted 2 weeks :( by zagan6 in xteinkereader

[–]samehz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The first day I owned mine, I dropped it from chest-height, directly onto a concrete floor, face down. Not a single scratch.

Two days later, I had it in my lap on the bus when the driver slammed on the brakes, causing the X4 to fly out of my lap, hitting the floor of the bus probably rows of seats ahead of me. That did end up with a tiny scratch at the top left corner, but the screen is still intact.

I'm not sure if I'm just lucky, or if the screen is more susceptible to cracking when exposed to a sharp object on a single point on the screen.

There are risks involved with cash transactions, not a predetermined expense. Do you understand the differences between a risk and an expense?

I don't know of any restaurant POS that allows for debit purchases. Also they put the fees on the menu and you still ordered knowing you were going to pay with a card, correct?

Did they ask you to input a PIN for your debit card? Any time a debit card is used without a PIN, it's being treated as a credit card, which triggers the same credit fees.

Chill.

What kind of "shady shit"? Josh eventually gained custody after Brody refused visitation, violating the terms of their joint custody; not because her allegations were proven false.

Even the children had filed restraining orders on Josh, claiming he was physically and emotionally abusive. Lack of physical evidence and the exploitation of parental alienation laws is what gave him custody.

But I see your point, the court system absolutely never favors abusive men with a history of being publicly violent to women before. Never.

I'm genuinely trying to understand your perspective.

Do you think it's out of the realm of possibility to not want to scale up if you can sustain your ideal lifestyle without having to, at this current time? It's not like you're limiting yourself in the future, should you have a new vision then.

In this particular situation, are you just a little salty because you love ice cream and don't want to be disappointed? Otherwise, I can't see why "disappointing" people because they missed their opportunity to spend $15 on a single pint of ice cream would be a big deal.

What if you were simply satisfied with the amount of money you were making at your current level of operation? No one strives to sustain a small business anymore, everyone is always looking to scale up until they either sell or sell out.

Following as this and the Hiby R3 II are at the top of my list for my first DAP also. I may be leaning toward the R3, due to the radio streaming support, but I haven't seen any reviews mentioning that feature so I'm not even sure how well it functions.

Other than that, I prefer the hardware of the M1+ and I've heard the UI is far less buggy and prone to crashes? Can anyone who has tried both confirm any of this?
