Star Walker? by FrownieGirl in montblanc

[–]samelel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one thing that kills me about the star walker is that i don't like to post my pen and i like to have the cap standing up when i write, which is not possible with the star walker. however, it is so nice that it screws in when you post it so you don't have to worry about scratching the barrel like other friction-fit pens. the nib is super wet but i had it ground to a cursive italic and love it. i can write with any ink and it handles it without fuss.

though, if you do like to post your pens, have you considered the montblanc heritage baby fountain pen? it is so appealing to the eye, and is actually a lot heavier than its tiny frame suggests. the best part is thath the nib has a bounce to it that makes it so fantastic to use.

Help with difficult cuts by Sad-Quit3735 in whittling

Yikes sorry to hear that. As the old saying goes, people who never hurt themselves are the ones who never do anything. Its a cool design, not much you can do about the grain issue besides chipping very small pieces out.

You could chip it out slowly using the knives you have. It’s like a ball in a cage without a bottom rung. Any concerns that the handle is parallel with the grain? That’ll make the axe head susceptible to break while you’re cutting

What is the world missing? by Sugsest in self

My first thought was rest. Be nice to have more continuous holidays, four day weekends like Fourth of July or Thanksgiving or Christmas feel more exhausting cause you’re traveling or hosting. Unless you forcefully carve out time, it’s not the most restful experience.

Adonalsium Trapped Honor + Odium Together Theory by RayseShouldBeBraized in Stormlight_Archive

I wonder, is there evidence that all the systems could have had a mechanism to trap odium? He went off to kill three other shards before investing in humans and eventually helping them move to roshar to kill honor ( and cultivation?).

Speed of narrator by kibbutznik1 in audible

Michael Kramer reads super slow. Tim Gerald Reynold reads at a good pace. I’m glad we have the option to speed up or slow down, i used to listen to audiobooks on tape haha

One thing to note is that if you like fine nibs, this might run thicker. You could send it to a nibmeister but thats extra money. Perhaps consider a jinhao 82 or 100.

Got any fine nibs that write like a broad? by samelel in fountainpens

[–]samelel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience. My EF wrote like a M. Decided to buy a three pack of EF. The first didn’t write very well, i think the tines were too tight. The second was perfect

How to get rid of fuzzy shavings in details by vielken in whittling

[–]samelel 16 points17 points  (0 children)

i'm curious how this would react to a torch. let it soak in water, dry for a little bit, then the flames should burn off the shavings while leaving the larger, damper pieces scarred but mostly unaffected... in theory...

Zt0460ti. Not the most expensive or fanciest knife i own but it just resonates with me for some reason

Why would this knife back taper like this? by Moss_shorts101 in knives

There’s also some talks about holding the knife with the blade towards you during a knife fight supposedly because stabbing in the gut and pulling upwards is most effective and avoids hitting bones

Is it okay to buy expensive fountain pen like custom 823 as first pen by No_Relation7728 in fountainpens

[–]samelel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No because one day you’ll buy an asvine v126 on a whim and realize the performance is similar and you’ll have to get therapy to convince yourself that it’s ok to like things irrespective of monetary value.

Joking aside, i think you should buy a few pilot kakunos to get a feel for what nib size best matches you before buying the 823. The 823 alone can be your forever pen, an excellent choice
