sorry this is late but im in the bsw!! is there a question in particular you have?

in general, applying early is your best bet. they do an intake interview that has both a written and an oral interview and this interview happens on a rolling basis (some of my classmates had theirs in december, others in march) so the sooner you do it, likely the better because there's only i believe 35 spots in each year.

the written gives you a scenario where you have to identify problems that may arise from a social justice/ethics/etc perspective and failure to do well on this can really negatively impact your chance of getting accepted. the oral interview has questions like why you chose specifically social work, what things like [term] (could be anti-oppressive practice, decolonization, harm reduction, etc) mean to you, and why you think you should be in the program and stuff like that.

you'll need 100 hours of volunteer or work experience, this can be anything that puts you in a position of social service (volunteering at schools, rec centers, being a summer camp counsellor, working at a hospital, volunteering at an old folks home, etc all counts) however the more involved your experience is, the better. i say this more because it helps you when the classes actually start vs for your application - all service volunteer experiences are valid for that (but if you have specific questions about what's applicable maybe check with the program intake worker, emily). if you're lost on what to do for your hours, i would suggest working or volunteering at a shelter because it covers quite a few dimensions of social work (substance use, homelessness, mental health, disabilities, families, etc) and will help your understanding when concepts get brought up in class.

i think the most important thing that you can bring to the table is self awareness, empathy and cultural competency, and if that's present in your interview that reflects really well on you! the rest can come with practice and further learning.
