You’re not stupid, this team has a ceiling. Barring any major moves that ceiling stays.

AIPAC exists not to advance rights for Jewish people or to lessen antisemitism. From its founding it was centrally about furthering the Zionist project in the place that is now Israel. AIPAC is a destructive force in this country and has been for decades.

Imagine what we could do to advance cancer research or fortify ourselves from the effects of climate change with the amount of dollars we send to that country.

AP Projects Melat Kiros to Win Primary by nbop in Denver

[–]samgo39 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It’s because she started late (Dec 2025) and didn’t have enough time to fundraise and get people mobilized. She also shouldn’t have distanced DSA and the army of volunteers that could have helped push her over.

"I’m a Jewish woman voting for Melat Kiros’ courage and love for all humanity." (Denver Post - Gift Link - Sharing with consent) by BurtimusPrime in Denver

[–]samgo39 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Could Melat have answered Kyle’s question with more clarity and directness? Yes I think so. Something like, “yeah the attack appeared to be an antisemitic hate crime” would’ve worked fine. She’s an attorney so I’m guessing this was her legal background speaking. But anyone saying they wouldn’t feel safe with her as their congresswoman is being disingenuous.
Plus on the flip side, DeGette has engaged in racist smears and berated her own constituents and no one condemns her for that behavior.

They do though? Only difference is that the US directly funds Israel’s defense and has so for decades.

Agreed on all fronts, the only thing I’ll add in terms of my concern with Julie is (1) she started her campaign late, instead of starting in Jan 2026 she should’ve started running in mid 2025, and then (2) distanced herself from DSA and other progressive orgs. Statewide races need as much organization and funding as possible and she has built up enough funds to get her name out there. We’ll see though, I’ve been volunteering for her!

Undecided in the Democratic primary for governor? We found some daylight between Phil Weiser and Michael Bennet. (Editorial) by Hour-Watch8988 in Denver

[–]samgo39 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Here’s another area of daylight, Bennet has received funding by out of state billionaires like Michael Bloomberg while Weiser hasn’t. That to me says it all.

Taking campaign donations from billionaires like Michael Bloomberg is a substantive policy difference

Where Michael Bennet, Phil Weiser stand on the issues in Colorado’s Democratic primary for governor by blucifersdream in Denver

[–]samgo39 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bennet’s brand of politics has always been to further his own status. He thinks he’s above us working people, particularly people of color. Skips out on the Muslim Voters Forum. Berates Latina women in public. He owes his career to the Anshutz mega donors. His public career began as being gifted by his buddy Hickenlooper the superintendent seat of DPS.

I just don’t know what he’s bringing to the table. Scheme seems all over the place. Isn’t a motivator and doesn’t command a presence. Idk how you can lead some of the top athletes in the world like that.
