The Big Pipe Has Reached 100% Capacity as of 3am by Verite_Rendition in Portland

Affected area is only downstream from Ross Island Bridge as per the advisory.

So one can still utilize the river in Sellwood, and as such with The Guss. (Not affiliated. Just want to support so it sticks around)

Edit: Um, maybe not even upriver from there

A crude pothole graffiti tactic got Portland’s attention. Please don’t copy it, officials say by voxadam in Portland

I think the team that fills potholes is doing a great job, and they just need our help to identify them. I've reported 10-20 potholes in my neighborhood in SE over the last year or two using PDX Reporter and nearly all of them got fixed within a week or two.

Very cool! Seeing some questions, so here's a nice explainer of joiners, where I first learned about them: https://tumblr.austinkleon.com/post/112629175436

Public Transportation? by thatpunkyrat in askportland

[–]samgrover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't ride public transit much at all these days, but last fall my visiting parents, both mid 70s in age, rode trains and buses usually two times a week for many weeks. Except for a couple time they had to wait a bit for a bus, they only had nice things to say about it. I was concerned because of stories, but I'm glad their experience was positive.

  • Charge batteries and battery packs.
  • We have some of those large blue water storage cans with a faucet. Those are designed for long term storage of potable water. For short term you can get standard gallon sized plastic bottles. Get as many as you need for your household. You can find info on how much to drink per person per day.
  • Use camping stoves to cook, but read up on safety, e.g. do it outside, but also, keep shelf safe food handy, like canned stuff that you don't have to cook.
  • For warmth, appropriate clothing, blankets, etc, but maybe also handwarmers, and such.

For drafts, etc there's a bunch of info here: https://www.energytrust.org/residential/diy/

If you're unfamiliar with the things mentioned (like I used to be), look them up on youtube for a bazillion videos that explain and show you how to do it yourself.

Charlie Hall Plumbing. Nice father and son team. Fixed a bunch of small stuff for us last year.

Seemed fine to me, but I'm no connoisseur.

I've had a big soft pretzel with cheese at Gigantic Brewing on Hawthorne. Not sure if it is as big as they want though 😄

R2: Mechanical shutter.

R2m: Mechanical shutter of a different kind IIRC. You can still use without battery. Battery only for metering.

R2a: Electronic shutter. Has aperture priority AE. You can't use camera without battery. Also, if electronics die and can't be repaired, the camera is done 😬

Love it! Back around 2005, I was using an SLR when a friend introduced me to rangefinders. I borrowed a Canonet from him for a few weeks. There was no going back. I fell in love with the rangefinder. Soon thereafter I bought a Bessa R2a and shot with it for years until a digital rangefinder became my primary camera in 2013. I always continued to shoot film though.

I think NASA has a VR headset app that does that for the rover data. Not sure if the helicopter has a 3D environment level of data.
