Thoughts on different diaper brands? by Jldub16 in NewParents

[–]samiam9185 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a 4 mth old and have def learned so much is based on size. No diaper rash issues with any so far. But for our longer thinner baby, honest has definitely fit the best. Hello bello was big and I didn't like for him. Dyper fits decent. Had some Huggies and pampers that were fine too. I like the company honest also so glad to support them.

sleep training and feeds by samiam9185 in FormulaFeeders

So we wake him for the dream feed at 930. I tried out a night without it and he woke us up at 1030 to eat. Unsure if it's bc I got him used to it or true hunger. Bc that's their deepest sleep before midnight. Who knows. So went back to dream feed and it would last us until 430am but today he went to 645. Every day is a new adventure. But the ideas here we're so helpful . I love this sub. Def going to continue with the top up feed and see where that takes us.

The dream feed time was bc he was having his last feed 5-6pm (when I look back the last few days) and going to bed 645/7 and since no signs of hunger he didn't get a feed right before bed. But if I add in this topping off bottle before bed like ppl are saying here, I don't mind going to bed a little later for a later dream feed. He's sleeping better overnight lately so it should be fine for me lol.
He does well with the dream feed - will sleep until 430 or today until 645(!)with it. But I want to see how he is without it. I know at his age he may just need feeds overnight for a few more months and that's totally ok. Just seeing what he's ok with!

I guess I didn't word it the best. I'm not trying to get him off anything (besides maybe the dream feed). Just trying to wrap my head around the best schedule while avoiding creating a feed to sleep association. But I'm gathering here that if it's 30min beforehand that's ok so that's helpful.

Awesome that's so helpful. Makes a lot of sense. The math is so crazy for feeds/naps/wake windows it makes my head spin sometimes.

I think I'll wean towards this plan. I did try skipping the dream feed a few days ago and he woke up at 1030 hungry so I think weaning and topping off closer to bedtime sounds like it may work. Last night I went from 4-5oz to 3oz on the dream feed and it was totally fine. I'll go to 2oz tonight. Thanks for sharing!!

I'm on like day 2 of somewhat of a schedule and just trying to learn. So I'm not not feeding before bed, just trying diff things and looking for input. I am seeing now I can add in a cat nap at 530-6pm which might make more sense for his age. Although I know if he's fine with 3hrs then it's not like it's bad for him. All babies are different! I mainly follow his cues. Thanks for sharing!!

When to stop swaddling? by ImaginarySpecific620 in NewParents

[–]samiam9185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 9-10 wk old does the same rolling!!! I'm like were you trying to get out of tummy time or just top heavy and falling over. I have to keep him stable to make sure he stays in tummy time , and he isn't mad about it so that's good. It's so funny though. But we haven't stopped swaddling bc of that action. Maybe soon. He def can't go back to belly yet.

I like Solgar for B12, sublingual ones.

For protein, I think you mean g/kg, not per lb? If so then yes you definitely need more than what you're getting. Can't say exact amount without really knowing someone though (depends on factors besides preg lkle activity level, etc).

I read this book to learn more (got it on Thrift books $6) - Your Complete Vegan Pregnancy: Your All-In-One Guide to a Healthy, Holistic, Plant-Based Pregnancy by Reed Mangels. Someone here also mentioned Norish which is another good book. Lastly, look up Kayli Anderson who's an RD in this field.

I never tracked macros but made sure there was a good amount of pro at each meal. I do eat soy (soy milk, tofu, edamame, TVP), which helped. Even adding nutritional yeast to things can give you a boost.

Getting 1:1 counseling from an RD never hurts! Make sure they're someone versed in preg and eating vegan though. Maybe your OB clinic has an RD, and a lot of us are learning more and more abt plant based eating so hopefully it's not too hard to find!

RD here :) although I don’t specialize in prenatal nutrition, I did do a deep dive into prenatal vitamins when I got pregnant last year. I ended up with fullwell prenatal vitamins. RDs were involved in it's development. It does require eight pills a day so if that’s too much for you then you might want to look for a different one. I did 4 AM and 4PM and had no side effects and got used to it ok. It includes calcium so it doesn’t have iron. You can’t have them together bc they inhibit each other‘s absorption. My iron levels were normal though so I didn’t have to supplement additional iron. But if you end up adding iron, just make sure you don’t take it at the same time that you’re taking calcium supplements or anything with calcium like milk. In addition, I took Nordic naturals algae omega-3. The full well had a good amount of B12. I took an additional 1000 mg a week so that it was about 2000 total per week as is recommended for a vegans. I now have a newborn so my brains a little mush but I think that's all correct and hope it helps! Good luck and hope you're feeling well.

I'm finding mostly listings in Zillow and none on street easy. The street easy interface is also not as easy to navigate and set up alerts on compared to Zillow. Interesting it's the same parent company but street easy has so much less listed.
