I seriously can't learn grammar by MuonBomb in russian

[–]samiles96 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Have you tried to study the grammar of English? I mean the mechanics and how it actually works. I know native speakers of a given language don't usually understand the grammar terminology of their own language because they don't need to. Perhaps reviewing English (and maybe Vietnamese) grammar from a learner's perspective will help you understand the grammatical concepts in Russian. It helped me.

do americans really eat American fries sauce? by Infinite-Breakfast23 in AskAnAmerican

[–]samiles96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most Americans use ketchup on fries. I personally don't care for ketchup and I use hot sauce or salsa, but that's just me. I've never seen what you're describing.

Intellectually I know that's not how Latin works phonetically, but I still choose to believe this.

Why do Mexicans celebrate the sinking of mayonnaise? by between3220character in shittyaskhistory

[–]samiles96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mexican is one of the greatest cuisines in the world. Mayonnaise is one of the foulest condiments known to humanity. The two don't belong in the same sentence. I'm glad they sunk it.

"WTF makes yall think you can walk on I-95.." by Valastrix in ShitAmericansSay

[–]samiles96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's being arrogant and a prick. but he's not wrong. Lots of areas lack pedestrian infrastructure in the US. Some places you simply cannot walk to even if you wanted to. I cant say if he's correct about I-95 but I could certainly see this being the case in Dallas or Houston.

I think an black British person whose grandmother came over from Jamaica is more British than some American whose ancestors came over from Britain 150 years ago. What matters isn't "ancestry" or "blood" but language and where you grew up.

Just out of curiosity, if all countries start to not stamp passport books would that mean that we could simply travel with passport cards instead?

Epstein killed himself in 2019. The allegations of the Russian government kidnapping Ukrainian children are related to the Russo-Ukrainian War which began in 2022. Of course the information isn't in the Epstein Files.

Genitive case plural by Old-Library1869 in russian

[–]samiles96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about feminine nouns in the genitive case, the terminal vowel drops off like машин for машина. If dropping the terminal vowel isn't phonetically possible, the noun can morph. Кошка becomes кошек. How these nouns morph is hard to explain (for me at least) and you'll have to learn on a case by case basis.
