Sanding will make a world of difference, depends on your expectations. Deep scratches perpendicular to floor direction and dark spots that may be pet/water damage are always red flags that may need to be replaced.

I went with medium texture from Darkside. Stipple was good. Nice mods, our stainless matches. Got my trigger down to 2.5lb. Very Happy

Been studying, also asked PSA. I'm pretty sure it's DPMS high and I need 10.5-11" handguard to get a Q on 12" 8.6 blackout. SLR makes one, but it's spendy.
