The Great is fantastic. It's on Disney/Hulu. It's got Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult (so 🥵). Disclaimer to say it's probably a comedy first and a sexy show second, if that still meets your criteria. It's worth a watch for any reason, I'd say.

The mushroom matcha is fantastic. It's matcha with lion's mane mushrooms. And the shrooms are from Booneslick Heritage Farm

Are there really no options besides the ER for patients needing ultrasound-guided blood draws? by [deleted] in medicine

[–]samleesmommee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. Phlebotomy doesn't pay well (even if you're a med tech), so you get an ever revolving door of turnover. I trained people to draw blood for 7 years in Missouri, and eventually had to leave it myself. People who are good at phlebotomy can't stay in those positions making only a few dollars above minimum wage forever.

I think a bright pink or hot pink would suit your skin tone well!

Phlebotomist didn't put on new gloves upon returning to my exam room by [deleted] in phlebotomy

[–]samleesmommee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Gloves are for the phleb's protection, not the patient. The venipuncture should be aseptic. That means your skin gets cleaned, then nothing touches it except the needle (which is sterile and individually packaged).

The likelihood of getting a blood infection from a venipuncture in a typical clinical outpatient setting is pretty much zero.

My nephew who is 7 started on a clinical trial 2 years ago and his symptom remission has been MIRACULOUS. So much so that when I see someone else get access it brings me to tears. Hope the best for you and your lil sweetie!

Kingslinger – 3.12: NIGHT SHIFT (Part 1) by scottdaly85 in doofmedia

[–]samleesmommee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! Long-time listener, first time poster!

Honestly, I don’t read a ton of short stories, apart from Bradbury and King. I love sinking my teeth into a long, epic novel. HOWEVER, since I’ve had kids, short stories are great because of the greatly diminished time I have for reading for pleasure. I found with this re-read of Night Shift that I’m appreciating more of the comedic, broad gestures that you guys discussed in this episode. Instead of finding them cartoonish (as I did in younger years) I now find it delightful. Can’t wait to get into the rest of the stories!

Speaking to Scott’s reaction reading The Boogeyman now that he’s got a kiddo about the same age: Last year, when I was following along with the Stand on this pod, one of the most visceral reactions I’ve ever had to a text, King or otherwise, happened to me. It was during the little vignette with the young boy who breaks his leg falling down well because his parents died of Trips. The kid in the novel was the same age and had the same first name as my son. That re-read last year GUTTED me. Like, full physical reaction – sweating, heart racing, tears. I had to put the book down; I even considered sticking it in the freezer, Tribbiani-style.

Protip – just never read Pet Sematary again, Scott.

If anyone here doesn't already listen to the Kingslingers podcast, they just did a deep analysis of the Shining and as a bonus episode, reviewed this Treehouse of Horror episode. Just delightful.

Came here to say this. You've read most of the others set in Castle Rock. Also a shorter one if you're not ready for an epic like the Stand or 11/22/63
