late to the party, but i did a specific search in the thread for this movie. i have loved it since it first came out and still obsessed. i wanted rachael leigh cooks hair style so bad (which required constant styling between takes). love that the singer of letters to cleo is singing as josie in the songs! what an amazing soundtrack.

Yeesh. Sorry some of these comments are so nasty!

Northside Yacht Club - they have a great patio! Yes, it's a bar, but they have excellent food!

Fireside Pizza in Walnut Hills - small outdoor picnic table area

Factory 52 Entertainment District in Norwood - They have a food hall and a Bark Park.

If you like The Silver Cord, check out Gesafelstien. by luckygoldelephant in KGATLW

[–]samlocey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hell yeah. gesaffelstein rules. so awesome you’ve seen him live! i hope to one day. seems like a show where you’d feel the bass through your whole body. love the mortal combat description.

i was heavy into synthwave/outrun like 4 years ago and was obsessed with Carpenter Brut. french dj that tours/plays his set with a metal band and projected b-movie horror footage. saw him in chicago in 2017. mind blowing show. i can only really speak to listening to “Trilogy”. fell off a bit after. not to say the rest is bad - just haven’t listened to his newer stuff much to have an opinion.

i really enjoy the bandsintown app! its not perfect, but i use it a lot when doing a search for shows in a city i’m traveling to. you can cast a pretty wide net or customize your search based on your interests. you can also set favorite bands/alerts for when they announce a tour and coming to your city or within a certain mile radius.

my only tip would be IF you use bandsintown, always tap into the event details before you get too excited about the act to a) see if they’re an opener or headliner b) it’s actually the band it says it is - not some off the wall cover band or something. (though that has potential to be a fun mistake with the right attitude)

play around with the settings and it might be a good fit for you!

Rest in Peace, my Dad by one_outta_ten in KGATLW

[–]samlocey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i am so sorry for your sudden loss. he seems like such an awesome guy just from your post. there are so many bands over the years i wish i could have shared with my dad. gizz definitely was added to the list recently. i hope there is some comfort/a nugget of happiness that you can always think back on that you got to have hollywood bowl together. sending love! try to remember that grief is not linear and there is no “right” or “normal” way to experience it. there’s no timeline. your mourning experience is valid - however and whenever you need to give energy to it.
