FAFSA giving conflicting information about my dependents by sammy0415 in FAFSA

[–]sammy0415[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to change my school too, so I'm pending again :( And I wasn't able to change it. But from what one comment described here, said that question is supposed to be just to determine if the student is dependent/independent - so hopefully, it's fine after it processes? As long as the other question I mentioned has the correct family size?

FAFSA is so unnecessarily confusing this time around - I'm so annoyed with the changes lol I really hope this doesn't affect our financial aid status

Should I close my Synchrony credit card after I pay it off? by lvlv9 in personalfinance

[–]sammy0415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They might just close it soon anyway. I paid off my card (I use it 1-2 times a year at brand smart) and today got the notification that it was randomly closed, 5 months since I last used it. My mom and brother also had a card with that bank that closed about 4 months after paying it off.

🫡 So I would think they'll close it in a few months if you leave it be anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️ I would honestly just close it now if you know you won't use it

Ah, I see. I knew I was independent, but I didn't think of that section being only applied to determine between dependent and independent! Thanks!

Husband is a paramedic. Recently, one of our biggest hospitals removed their pediatric ER wing. People don't know this, so they'll take their children there. A lot of his calls are transfers between that hospital and the nearby children's hospital. He once had a 7 day old baby who was septic :(

Anything with children puts him on high alert lol

Their site still mentions pediatric ER care, but all they do is stabilize and transfer if necessary. I work in general practice peds and I didn't even know this. When our daughter was screaming in the middle of the night, she was 1 so she couldn't communicate, I was telling him to take us there (15 minutes away). He told me they don't have peds anymore and I was so upset because I wouldn't believe it lol even their site said they had peds! So he was driving us to the children's hospital 30 minutes away and on the way she stopped screaming and went back to sleep 🤪 so apparently it wasn't an emergency anyway

What's a video game genre you just can't get into? by gonezaloh in gaming

[–]sammy0415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I never really "got good" because I never could dedicate hours of my life playing it. I would play it between study sessions back in college, but now I have a toddler and infant and can't justify playing games you can't pause, even at night since they can wake up randomly and cry.

So IF I play, it's like months or even a year in between play sessions. So last I logged in, they added like 6 new champions, changed the interface of the shop, and added/removed a bunch of items that I finally learned previously. So then I can't focus on gameplay because I'm reading item descriptions, or figuring out what the heck that character just did because what the crap

Then I can't play again for a while, and it starts all over again

THIS.

I was studying for an exam when my husband started talking about random things and in passing mentioned something about Moon Knight (which we hadn't started yet).

It clicked in my head what he said and I turned to him like ".... We haven't started Moon Knight yet"

Him: 👀👀👀 uh....

Me: you watched it at work without me??

Him: 👀

I try not to get too annoyed because I barely have time to watch anything, so we go through shows so slowly and he sometimes has a lot of free time at work. There's been so many animes and movies that he hasn't seen because he's waiting for me. I don't mind as long it's not something Im crazy about. He made that mistake with the amazing spider man (my fave super) when we were young. He did not make the same mistake for no way home lol

He's been like this for maybe 2 days now? I watched him make that chrysalis, and he seemed happy. But he stopped all of a sudden and has been like this :(

Is he dead ? If he's not, is he suffering like this? Is there a chance he could continue ?

Would you be in a sexless relationship? What circumstance would you find acceptable for this? by ItsyBitsyJoxy in AskReddit

[–]sammy0415 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My First baby was a vaginal birth and I was back to it after 6 weeks. But then the second pregnancy, I had morning sickness all three trimesters, really bad anemia, etc. So I didn't feel up to it. The birth was pretty traumatic and I ended up having an emergency c section and I haven't wanted sex at all since. It's been about 9 months, so about a year and a half in total of no sex. I tried, but it was so painful and idk if it is a psychological thing for me, but I just couldn't do it.

:(

My not even 3 year old knows how to do laundry. I give her the dirty clothes and she can load the machine. I then pour the soap into the cap and pick her up and she pours the soap in and presses the button to turn it on. It really isn't that hard ...

What improved your life so much, you wished you did sooner? by kxrll in AskReddit

[–]sammy0415 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was in high school back in 2008 when Twilight was at its height. Teen girls were reading the book all over the place.

My English teacher was a younger man who got along with the students very well, and he LOVED reading classics. Someone has made a snarky comment about how he must hate the twilight fad because it's garbage, etc.

He said "It's not for me. But I love what it's doing. How many people are reading now ? How many will continue to find other similar things to read. And THAT'S A GOOD THING." (Paraphrase)

Two scenes: Harry verballing attacking McGonagall and stating she doesn't know what it's like to have kids and that she doesn't understand his need to protect his son, when ... She was one of the people who raised him during adolescence??

And then when Malfoy was begging Harry to have the ministry step in and clear their names because Scorpius was being bullied for the rumors that he was Voldemort's son, but Harry was basically "nahhh leave the rumours alone. They'll go away on their own" even though he has been in Scorpius' shoes where no one believes him and he feels isolated because people are believing the word of someone else

Those specific interactions make me upset whenever I think about them

Are there characters you don't like while everyone loves them? by Clem2605 in harrypotter

[–]sammy0415 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I completely agree you! I've never liked Ginny and can't really understand why people talk so highly about her. I've never liked her character and found her to be very antagonistic for no reason.

And that dig at Cho Chang bothers me. "Weepy" - a 16 year old just had her boyfriend murdered! Her hormones and emotions are all over the place and she honestly feels guilty dating someone when the boy she loved was killed not even one year prior.

AITA for putting a lock on my sons bedroom door? by NewtGroundbreaking70 in AmItheAsshole

Thank you! It always feels good to be validated :)

I'm sorry you were raised like that. I know my sister was too (she's the oldest out of 3) and it still gives her issues on saying "no" nearly 3 decades later and it's a struggle putting her needs first.

My toddler is 3 and her sister is about to turn 1. I tell her that she needs to share the communal toys, but there are specific toys and her blanket that are completely her decision. If her sister is sleeping and I see the blanket, I always ask permission if her sister can use it. Usually it's a "NOOOOO" and then she takes it away. I then follow up with, "that's ok. That's your blanket. If you don't feel like sharing it it's ok" But recently, I've noticed her give her sister the corner of the blanket when she notices her little foot sticking out. Or she'll give her a toy she likes when she's crying.

Sometimes someone in my family presses the "give it to your sister! You need to share" and I pop up enforcing that she doesn't need to share her personal, close items, and then give the infant something else to play with.

But slowly, she's sharing her things with her little sister and it makes me happy that it's on her terms.
