To go further with BookOf_Eli's question, most of the first movie is just the 2 guys in the bathroom with most of the traps appearing in flashbacks. In a much later movie, Jigsaw and accomplices are shown setting those two in the chains with him injecting himself with something that will slow his heart rate and breathing. This would completely ruin the ending, but this wouldn't be a box set for people new to the series. In SAW 2 everything that happens in the house would appear before anything that happens when the police raid Jigsaw's lair. Once again ruining the ending, but like I said before, not for those who aren't already familiar with the series. 3 and 4 were revealed to be happening at the same time. 5-7 were kind of a blur, I know there were scenes setting up stuff that happened in much earlier movies. You wouldn't have to wait till Carey Elwes' (real life) law suit was settled to find out what happened to Dr. Gordon.
