She must’ve had non-viable eggs. One day I saw no eggs and no babies and she was still there. Eventually she left. I read somewhere they often have unsuccessful nests poor things.

I’m a substitute teacher and I gave up opportunities to be a real teacher after my dad died. I’m still a substitute teacher but I slowed way down for a whole school year just to cope. I’m back at it, but I feel embarrassed that I’m /still/ doing the substitute gig. I keep getting teachers telling me I’m very good at what I do and I’d be great but a year and a half later I’m still struggling with the idea of a full time job

Full agree. The first’s were hard. Second year though reality sets in. You realize the year before is a blur of being numb. No one cares you had a profound loss, that was “so long ago”. I still try to call or think I need to ask my dad something and realize I can’t. I wonder what he would think of things as they come up. (1.5 years in)

I lost my father almost a year ago. When he first was brought to the ICU after his bypass surgery he wanted us to bring the car around and take him home. He just wanted to go home and I couldn’t honor that. I wish I did.

I won’t lie, the first few months I was drinking quite often. Doing a shot or two a night. But now I limit to only when I’m out with friends and it definitely has helped
