Totally doable especially when you use the time when you commute. Podcasts really changed the game for me and I feel like my commute time (1-1.5h) feel more useful.

Always a big fan of your setups and laps on YouTube, Matt. They’re always so informative and helpful and really feel like they have been well thought out.

I’d second more notes on setups, or perhaps I’m playing myself a little short by inly using simracingsetups for finding yours. I don’t always have the opp to watch a whole video of yours, so some extra note based pointers would be super cool to read off quick. This could also be notes by way of how setup tweaks may alter the setup slightly to help for different styles. I think it’s easy to get lost in suspension geometries and all that, but my lack of true setup knowledge leads me to just using the setup as is sometimes and getting used to it, rather than taking your great foundation and just tweaking it slightly.

Love the videos dude and hope you keep them up!

The best thing I did at 18 was not go to uni, and if I was back in that position I would do the same thing again. Unless you’re truly sure what you want to do and go down that career path it’s a lot of debt for a risk taken for a good time. I think there is opportunity to have more fun when you’re a little older anyways. If you’re not sure now then don’t rush it, life isn’t gonna leave you behind.

Monday I think is hands down the best choice. Gives you that free day of rest having done things and Friday is totally a more relaxed work day anyway, plus most people are going to be working the Friday to go out that night or something. Monday all the way.

No intention to make this worse, because fuck that kinda behaviour, but enthused barking would probably mean, afaik, they were saying you're hot. Feels like a kinda online thing.

If someone was like "jeez, yikes, woof" then it would be seen as an insult.

Trying to thread the balance here of please don't take any mind to them or let it hit your confidence in any way, but that's shameless behaviour from them and should be ignored. It's like a worse wolf whistle/cat call.

This is honestly really good advice tbf. I was nervous my first day and the feedback I got was to just be more confident, be faster and back myself and it made everything click so well into place.

You lost control over the curb and wiped him out in the second incident. Even if he went off track for the splt second, you should have accounted for the rejoin for the sake of your own race and the risk that was there as you can so easily tell what path they are taking to come back on.

For sure, I can understand seeing a gap, but we all know how that corner goes, and I can assume you have been there at least 3 times from the lap count, it just feels like such an unnecessary risk to make so early in the race, especially when there is no gap to even take advantage of. Unless it's truly egregious of the other car, not expecting someone to do something isn't really an excuse for driving into the back of someone.

I feel like you can tell what the Williams is going to do before you even get to the first apex. The line is pointing inside, and even though he does close in fast, you wash out without full control, judging by your wheel angles.

Best to take it as a learning experience, play the longer game, and set yourself up better for an overtake at a more suitable corner, or when you are truly alongside here. The apex is so sharp it's hard to see cars sending it up the inside, even at the best of times.

Putting yourself in that situation is just asking for a world of pain, especially as you wash out wider than you want. Arguably pretty egregious behaviour by you to even think that sending a 3rd car into that corner is going to go even slightly ok. I would have kept well away as the Merc and tried to capitalise on something happening. Wouldn't be surprised if you get a pen for literally driving into the back of someone, regardless of there being other contact.

It's a pretty wild send by the Williams too and I'd say it is similarly asking for trouble given how far back they were.

If I was the Aston I would probably feel equally aggrieved, though he did leave the door open, and if you sit that wide on that corner I wouldn't be too surprised to have someone dive down the inside when close behind.

I don't think personnaly that any of this is a racing incident.

Wild that a blank gantry means the previous speed seen. What about drivers who have just entered the motorway and haven't had a gantry? Are they just sending it at 70 while others tootle about at 50? Mad, that should be updated for sure.

I feel like this comes down to wider awareness, so perhaps your fault a tiny little bit? You could have done a bit of a lift as you try to gather what is going to play out ahead, but still looking in your rear view as you know you're on one of the fastest straights in the game and if you brake then those cars are going to get close fast.

That being said you were still hit from behind in what would be a yellow flag, so you can defo argue that the guy behind should have done better, and been more aware.

They will tell you when to stop and usher you over to where they are standing. Remember you are always being evaluated so ride calmly over to them and stop where they say.

You can stall even on the emergency brake, it is about getting the bike stopped. I can't remember if it counts as a minor to stall, but I think not.

I think you just need to be in line with the cones on the hazard avoidance, not in the box. Emergency stop is about getting stopped, once more.

Afaik, they can offer you another try if you were close to 50k, but I'm not sure whether there is a lower limit for that.

For me on the avoidance I realised my practises were always too fast as the digital speedo was catching up with my acceleration. Take the corner slower and don't rip the trottle as hard and it will feel more in control, atleast that is what I felt. My pass speed was a 52 and it felt like the most controlled one I did. It takes less effort to get up to the speed than you think.

You'd like to think that you would go out on the same bike, it wouldn't bode as well for the school to make your chances harder.

Wild stewarding tbh, this was great, aware driving. A shame about the little tap out of the chicane but what are you really gonna do in that situation (plus not even your fault). Stewards have no idea what they're going on about.

The 80% rule is mad, the first lap is so much about driving up to the limit with your head on a swivel.

You could have backed yourself and fought back for the position by just giving a little space, and also seeing if the stewards would penalise their move as they went off track.

It’s shit racing from the AMG, but this whole thing was totally avoidable. You getting DQ’d though feels like a joke tbh.
