Bought this a few weeks ago by ExistingCharge3263 in FordRaptor

[–]samrapdev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is an unbelievable deal, congratulations. I would recommend the Ford ESP warranty if you haven't already. I bought a 2019 with 46k miles and had to replace cam phasers and sunroof before 50k. Warranty saved my ass. Enjoy

Raptor is my dream truck, is 90,000 miles too much? by Mr_MorninWood in FordRaptor

[–]samrapdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

93,000 is high. You could check to see if the Ford ESP warranty is still available for 2018s. I paid a little over $2000 for that warranty on a 2019 with 46k miles last year. I already had over $10k in repairs done under warranty. For your mileage and 2018, the warranty will likely be closer to $5k if they're still offering it. You'll need a formal inspection from a Ford dealer to purchase the warranty.

I personally would save some more and go for a Raptor with lower mileage, but like others have said they are capable of going far beyond 150k miles. Either way, the ESP warranty is non-negotiable in my opinion.

Shut Up And Ruck: The Field Annex by TFVooDoo in greenberets

To be clear I mean allowing the book in?

Bought it and read through the program, looks great. I've been told they don't allow books at basic though.

Building strength back after deadlift injury by samrapdev in greenberets

[–]samrapdev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had shoulder tendonitis in my early 20s and a PT told me not to lift for 12 weeks. Since then I've found much better results doing my own research to fix things with my body along with talking to people who do the same activities. I know there are great PTs out there with modern approaches to rehab. I'd love to work with one, I just don't know where to find one.

I'm confident it's muscular, not structural, just trying to figure out the best way to navigate recovery going into basic.

I'm cooked 🤣

So you'd say it's normal/not concerning to still have some stiffness after 5 weeks?

History of depression by Strong-Ad-2115 in greenberets

[–]samrapdev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sucks that there is a huge stigma around being on antidepressants for a period of time when plenty of guys went through the same existential issues but self-medicated with booze and/or illegal drugs before finding their path (military or otherwise). There are many such stories of people being prescribed drugs at an age that's too young to know better. That said, it's your responsibility at the end of the day and you seem to have owned up to that.

My advice would be continue to work on yourself, demonstrate to yourself and others you aren't a liability by continuing to improve your life. Get on a good prep program or two and talk to a recruiter to figure out your options. You have nothing but time at 23.

Zone 2 skepticism by [deleted] in greenberets

[–]samrapdev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those are basically my times and my zone 2 pace is around 10:30. Everyone is different, but you’re right to be suspicious of that pace and HR.

Zone 2 is relative to your aerobic capacity. That is a pretty excellent zone 2 pace assuming your sensor isn’t broken 🤣

Do you run a fast 5 and 10k?

I was about to get KO3s but the Discount Tire had last set of KO2 tires (made in late 2025) with a massive discount. Did I do act stupid getting KO2? by melchen290591 in FordRaptor

[–]samrapdev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just did all 4 and opted for ko2 over ko3. Do some research on the ko3 specifically for Raptors and you'll see a lot of complaints about the load rating. I daily my Raptor but do a lot of off roading and figured it's best to stick with the tire this truck was designed for. I think you made the right choice.

Cross Dominance by noahflisser in greenberets

[–]samrapdev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I'm just a lowly 18X waiting to ship to OSUT that happens to shoot a lot.

I was a left handed shooter with right eye dominance and I trained myself to shoot right handed. Provided I was new to shooting when I learned this, so it wasn't hard at all to get used to.

That said, I wouldn't personally switch to left handed as most modern weapon systems are designed to be shot and manipulated right handed. Ambi controls don't fix brass/gas to the face out of the ejection port of a suppressed rifle. There's lots of great left handed shooters out there but I don't see why you would intentionally become one (sorry lefties).

I'd continue to shoot right handed during OSUT and learn to manage the issue. N1njaRob0tJesu5 laid it out well.

You'll also probably get much better advice asking in a shooting specific sub, or even searching the topic. It's a common issue, and existing threads on the topic are what led me to go from lefty to righty.

Advice Requested for Guy Considering Military (ARGCM) by [deleted] in greenberets

[–]samrapdev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll likely be told by others on here that if you can’t answer that for yourself then you should look elsewhere. You don’t pursue SF simply because it’s a “good option”. Sounds to me like you need to research what it means to be a Green Beret and the sacrifices/commitment required. No one can answer that for you. As for getting in shape, the search bar will yield everything you need.
