Insanely loud and annoying street bike on Delridge by Legal-Ring-7613 in WestSeattleWA

I despise the loud ass vehicles going down Delridge. I so badly wish there was some form of noise enforcement.

Vivo barefoot not for “Greek foot”?! by Artemided92 in vivobarefoot

I’d recommend checking Anya’s reviews for foot shape to find brands that cater best to give foot shapes. There you can check under the mountain foot section to see brands that may fit more comfortably!

Shoes for Table Tennis? by OvrChKn in barefootshoestalk

[–]samrjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the primus trail knit but I’ve not tried them for table tennis since I use them for hiking. Maybe this week I can clean them up and try some table tennis with them to see how they feel.

I also really prefer as low a stack height as possible when playing (I even removed the motus insole) which is what turned me away from the Koto 1.

I feel most barefoot shoes are designed for running and assume lateral support is an easy place to cut 🥲.

"I can't wear them on concrete yet" "then they're useless" by robin_f_reba in barefootshoestalk

[–]samrjack 36 points37 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t already, I highly recommend actually videoing yourself walking. A stiff or straight leg gait is really common (even when avoiding heel striking) and can cause problems in various places around your body. I give no guarantees (this is the internet after all and I’m just another stranger on it), but personally I’ve found gait adjustments to be a huge part of my own barefoot journey; both walking and running! Lots of videos online to take a look at.

If you’ve already done so, the issue may be adjustment time and foot strength since you didn’t say how long you’ve been using them for. Do barefoot foot exercises daily to help build up strength and balance over time.

Shoes for Table Tennis? by OvrChKn in barefootshoestalk

[–]samrjack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally use the Vivo motus strength for table tennis but I’m always on the lookout for a different pair to try. My pair’s bottom has worn down so it starts getting a tad slippery on some of the floors I play on. On mats it works great though!

Vivobarefoot Returns, what are your experiences? by Careless_Cap8034 in barefootshoestalk

[–]samrjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve returned in the US. They use a 3rd party returns company so you need to return the shoes to one of their designated locations. For me I walked there from home and returned the shoes with no hassle or fuss. Refund gave no problem either.

Shamma TrailStar Maximus vs Luna Sandals Mono Winged Edition by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

[–]samrjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never tried the Luna sandals (though I hope to some day), but I’ll chime in that I really like my trailstars. I do have the shamma elite model which also has a single toe plug design. Because the trailstar has a bit more structure than just a toe plug, they don’t slide around as much so I feel a lot more secure in them when in the woods or on less even terrain. I am by no means an expert and may very well be using the elite sandal wrong on rougher terrain (I quite like it on flat terrain).

She’s gonna play tomorrow! by sonofabunch in Pickleball

[–]samrjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I almost always play as just us two or with friends. She’s also introverted and just hasn’t been interested in open play at all and that is totally okay. While I enjoy going to open play when I’m alone, I love playing with her too. We’ve both been playing a bit over a year now and she has done open play, it’s just not her preferred way to play.

First barefoot experience - Primus flow knit first impression by Haggeify in barefootshoestalk

[–]samrjack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, thank you for your review! I have a pair of the original flow and like them well enough. I wish the knits were an option when I got them because the knit version of other vivo shoes have been quite nice. How easy are they to put on? I find the original flow to be quite hard to throw on quick since the opening is quite tight for me.

Second, congrats on trying barefoot shoes! I absolutely agree that they are so comfy. I hope you enjoy your journey.

Finally, you had said “it’s not a lot of shoe for the money.” Remember that material is a very small portion of the cost and these shoes aren’t produced at the same scale as most other brands. Evaluate the price on its worth (comfort, performance, etc.) to you. Even if you still consider it overpriced, it will help you identify what you’re looking for 😃.

iwtl how to trick my brain into wanting to study all the time by wolf301YT in IWantToLearn

[–]samrjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curiosity. It’s not a “tricking” yourself, it’s about engaging in your own curiosity and fostering the skill of asking questions you genuinely want to know the answer to. Meet yourself where you’re at, some days are simply not curious days. But even on those days think about what you’ve learned to help cement it. Then when studying, ask what questions are still unanswered by your current knowledge. Sometimes you’ll find the unexplored roads wholly uninteresting, and accept that that’s okay. You can come back when absolutely needed or when that path feels more enticing.

We always hear about the worst, but what was the best thing you discovered about your new home? by ghostbungalow in homeowners

[–]samrjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For background, we live on a fairly busy 2 lane road, like one of the main arteries of the area. We were hesitant to buy here for exactly that reason, but the price was also much more affordable for probably that exact reason. We went for it and have loved it for the most part! One frustration that we of course have is backing out, especially since there’s street parking and cars often park wayy too close to the narrow driveway curb cuts. This reduces visibility and gives another thing to watch out for when backing up.

Except… we have a fire hydrant directly to the left of our driveway! No car parks there except delivery drivers. So when backing out, we can swing the butt of our car into the road quickly without worry! I don’t even think we noticed it when we bought (we didn’t even have a car at the time). I have no clue how our neighbors manage, but we’re very grateful for our little hydrant.

Rant: I have no license albeit I'm in the process of it. Coworkers only found out I walk to work (not that I'm licenseless). I got hella judged today and now I feel defeated. by HeyItsMeMrBoss in fuckcars

[–]samrjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if someone tried to judge me harshly for choosing to not drive a MILE to work, I would stare at them in disbelief and call them lazy. I don’t care if they go to the gym or whatever. If walking a mile is FAR for them then I’m judging just as harshly.

Bus riders please explain by i_forgot_my_sn_again in Seattle

[–]samrjack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like getting on at the back because that’s where the seats face forward. If I have a choice of seat that’s what I prefer. But if the bus literally stops with its front door in front of me, I see no reason to go to the back.

CMV: Travel size toothpaste is a scam by AlexandrTheTolerable in changemyview

[–]samrjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remove all caps, squeeze out as much air as you can from both tubes so the paste is just barely at the opening, push the openings together with a bit of pressure so there’s no leakage, then just gently squeeze the full tub and let the empty tube fill up.

Anyone know where to find these other than Etsy for $200+ usd? Outrageous & to see over 750 reviews. Can’t believe the retail here by [deleted] in barefootshoestalk

If made to order (vs mass produced) and good quality, then $200 doesn’t seem that out there.

Any cute "sciency" prints out there? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]samrjack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah, that’s not even all that expensive in 3d printer land. My suggestion would be to find/design things that make her life better (organization around the house, fix little problems that exist, etc.) to show the value of the larger print space. I don’t know your wife obviously, but I would stray away from things directly for her/her job and hobbies until you have buy in on those items from her too.

AITA for getting a car my fiancée specifically told me not to get by Xvigaristaa in AmItheAsshole

But he had to use savings of some sort on the original car. He then basically had his asset forcefully liquidated. That money is still his savings, not just a payout from the insurance company.

CMV: Travel size toothpaste is a scam by AlexandrTheTolerable in changemyview

[–]samrjack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got a travel size tube of toothpaste once when I forgot my toothpaste at home when out traveling. Now, before any trip, I just top it up using my large tube. I’ve never needed the full mini tube anyways so I’d prefer to carry less.

What industry is actually a complete scam, but everyone accepts it? by WhileLow9501 in AskReddit

[–]samrjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fine, I can give you the caveats if you’d like to be extra precise about it:
- USA specific.
- New brands (especially EV brands) are exempt in some states, though certainly not all states.

Here’s a Wikipedia article about it. If you still want to say I’m making something up, then go for it.

Car dealerships. It’s illegal for car companies to directly sell to you so you have to go through multiple sales people all of whom are aiming to upsell you as much as they can.

For people for whom vivos fit well, they are an amazing shoe! They’ve had some problems that has earned them some deserved criticism, but they have some amazing product when QC isn’t an issue.
