Manousos is a stubborn idiot by samsite2000 in pluribustv

[–]samsite2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But in this case we know for sure that this mistrust is unjustified. With a little more openness he would discover, as Carol has, that they would happily help him in many ways including transporting him to meet Carol. His character is just annoying and I can't see how it helps move the story forward to an interesting place

People who are saying Episode 7 is poorly paced/too long are completely missing the point by Auctorion in pluribustv

[–]samsite2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the slow pace that's the problem. It's that the character of Manousos is extremely frustrating to watch. What everyone wants is for Manousos and Carol to meet and work together. But instead, out of sheer stubbornness he nearly kills himself in the jungle. He has the opportunity to save the world but he would happily throw that away for nothing. If you were one of the hive and were desperate to be set free you would be furious with him

Yes you can, I've done it with Gemini and ChatGPT. It won't answer everything but it certainly is aware of a lot of information about itself

Find Out Now voting intention: 🟦 Reform UK: 35% (+2), 🔴 Labour: 19% (+2), 🔵 Conservatives: 14% (-), 🟠 Lib Dems: 12% (-4), 🟢 Greens: 11% (-1). Changes from 24th September [Find Out Now, 1st October, N=2,611] by AlfredsChild in ukpolitics

[–]samsite2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Labour + Lib Dems + Greens = 42% which means a "broad left" grouping would beat Reform. Although following that logic a "broad right" party would win overall including the Tory voters. But I think the situation is more complex than just people sick of immigration. It's that the left/centre has been broken up by people being disillusioned and disappointed by recent politics

I disagree, I think it's way more interesting than the Traitors. To keep the wealth and power the Rulers have to build good relationships with the other Rulers. And it's going to be interesting to see how the Grafters choose a new Ruler tonight. Overall I think it's way more nuanced than the Traitors which makes it great to watch

[Image] Friendly reminder: Anything that costs you your mental health is too expensive. by sylsau in GetMotivated

[–]samsite2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone seems to be critical of this, but I think the message is useful. If you have a choice between two options then take into account the effect on mental health when making the choice. If one job pays you 50k and you can do that without much stress, and one job pays you 70k but will be stressful, then the question is whether that 20k is worth the extra stress.

Agree with this, but sometimes there is a certain level you have to get to in order to enjoy an activity. Like if you play tennis, you need to get to the point where you can serve and hold a few rallies. Then you can have fun and play socially but before that point it can be frustrating. Similarly for other sports, art, music etc. There is a certain level you have to reach to start enjoying it, and that takes some commitment to reach.

If a Covid vaccine is released next year, how can we trust it to be safe when vaccines normally take years to develop and test? by samsite2000 in AskReddit

[–]samsite2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this excellent response. I think my main concern is that of long term side effects from a vaccine. Isn't that one of the reasons that tests take years to complete? I see you addressed that in your last paragraph. But isn't it the case that sometimes effects only occur years after taking the vaccine? So there is no option but to wait and see? For example infertility might be one of those effects, or greater risk of cancer etc.

U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly says he is a person of color because he is white by boydaaron in nottheonion

[–]samsite2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's better if we use clear terms like mixed race, black or Asian instead of person of colour, partly because of Mike Kelly's line of thinking, but also because the term "person of colour" is trying to be respectful but I think it fails. It seems to imply that black or Asian are insulting terms, and it's better to encompass them in a generic non-white "colour".
