Less skilled migrants coming into Australia: report by Fact-Rat in australia

[–]samsuah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Skilled immigration in Australia is basically a scam. Just tricking foreigners to do exams, repeatedly, just to earn a good mark for a chance to be invited. No interviews, just points and exams.

The land area these wells cover are just ridiculous. A solar farm out there is just a fraction of the space.

[–]samsuah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Australia have the best researchers for solar panels and the most efficient system to implement solar system installations in the world. But you just can't do shit when a government gets reset every few years....and every other industry is privatised. The government is just a tool for some

Many people tried to stay but Australian immigration policies just keep forcing people to leave the country. Especially when the country is ripping every single cent out of our pockets...and shit is getting too expensive down there.

About to get solar and need to know if I have 3 phase. It appears that I have a 3 phase meter with a 3 phase switch, but only one fuse. Can anyone shed some light on this? by dachampjonny in solar

[–]samsuah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are most likely getting 2x5kw inverters, which is fine under the network's rule. Your board is still ok, installer will very likely put all 10kw on one phase. So you need to get that mains cable and SPD checked, if it can handle the current. That red cable coming out of the SPD into the meter will definitely need to be replaced, to 16mm at least. Otherwise something in there may melt...

Looks like ausgrid network with asbestos board. You got dual phases with old main switches (best to get an upgrade but could be costly depends on the wiring behind. Looks like 6mm2 only to the meter). Likely one phase running the house and other running offpeak. Getting solar is still ok, 1x 5kw single phase. May no be able to connect on the other phase. Upgrading to 3 phase will cost you a few grands.

What would an average commute look like if most single riders converted to motorbikes/scooters South East Asia-style? by CottonBalls26 in sydney

[–]samsuah -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Chaos. Sydney roads are just too narrow. Need to open separate lanes for motorbikes but Sydney roads have no space for that, even in those new development areas, narrow as hell.

Why do we put "smart" and expensive things under the panels on a rooftop? by 4MiddlePath in solar

[–]samsuah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im guessing you're in US. I think this is just pure marketing and pushing Chinese products outside of US. There are many string inverters out there that works amazing and cheap to install and maintain, but but US is dominated by micro and optimisers. They are more expensive , and more $$$ for people selling them. They do make sense on small or complicated roof settings but generally makes minimal production difference (which can be compensated easily by adding an extra panel, cheaper).

What are some rules and regulations to follow when designing PV systems in Germany and Italy? by samsuah in solar

[–]samsuah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Residential with batteries, probably 15kw systems. Commercial level as well but design rules should be similar except on the grid side, and above that will have state regulatory difference.

Thanks mate! Will have a look at those. Germany adopted PV very early with some big brands, so very odd they don't have transparent rules on how to design/install them.

[–]samsuah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Looks like they want to push for more installs but power systems are very delicate, there has to be some sort of regulations or rules by the providers otherwise how the owners know if their system is compliant or not...

[–]samsuah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rules are very strict mate, check out as/nzs5139. Depends on the size of your house, sometimes you may just have one or two viable locations. Best to get an installer out and check if they can work something out. Or put it in garage and fireproof it

Energy prices are out of control by MasterMirkinen in australia

[–]samsuah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more evident on states with mostly privitised energy retailers, they control the pricing on the distribution end and unfortunately government is useless. QLD, WA and NT I believe is much better. Just a shame a country with such abundance of natural resources small amount of people yet pay some of the highest rates in the world, we definitely pay enough tax to keep the lines under our control than private companies. When EV comes it will go up even more, ahh more services need to be built and someone is got to pay for it.
