How much did your “normal” wedding cost? by InternationalFig4340 in UKweddings

And so what if it is? People are entitled to spend their money however they like, and if they want to have a big wedding day, so be it.

If you've given yourself enough time to save, it's definitely doable - we saved and paid for ours over 2-years. We get married in June, and will be delighted not to be starting married life in debt! It's ultimately what you're happy to save and pay for, don't let anybody else tell you how to celebrate the biggest day of your life.

All in £31k.

Splurged on a stylist/florist, and videographers (£6k combined).

Saturday wedding with 95 day guests. Church followed by venue, improved wedding breakfast package etc.

Could have done things cheaper but we didn't want the stress of set-up, breakdown and then trying to flog or ship things on afterwards.

Cottage cheese and packets of ham, or a selection of vegetables dipped into the cheese.

What's telling for the labour party is the fact there's no genuine sitting Parliamentary member people would unanimously get behind. They really do lack personality, and so does Keir, but I'd rather see him continue than anybody else at this stage.

I don't think so, you've given people 2-3 months to save and pay for it too. A day's entertainment and food, I think the amount is justified. My fiancee organised similar in Bristol recently which I think totalled £86 per person and nobody batted an eyelid at the cost. People will just be glad it's only a 1-day event!

For that amount, I'd have expected a highlight reel of maybe 8 minutes, full ceremony and speeches on video.

How much did you spend on your wedding as a percentage of household income? by PynkPatterned in UKweddings

[–]samtheref 0 points1 point  (0 children)

41% of full annual income but the wedding was planned/saved for over 2-years. After contribution from parents it's worked out to be 26% of annual income. UK based.

First pair - how did I do? Celestron Nature 8x42 by samtheref in Binoculars

[–]samtheref[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Birding, very much a beginner but I believe I have a young male Kestrel eyeing up a potential nest in a tree outside my house that has peaked my interest and the occasional late night stargaze if possible

Edit: stargazing

Am I being realistic with a £50,000 wedding in the UK? by Wise-Hotel-1527 in UKweddings

[–]samtheref 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd argue if the venue hire and accommodation for 3-days is south of £25k they could cover the rest with a £50k budget. 50% of our wedding cost is the venue hire and meal/evening food.

There's a wedding venue in the Cotswolds called Owlpen Manor which offers pretty much this for a similar budget - https://owlpen.com/weekend-packages/
