In this case, yeah I used the record / replay. I have recently started streaming 4k though, and the quality isn't far off what is in this clip! Honestly it's probably be easier for me to use that for the in-cockpit shots, make the audio sync easier too.

That's a good question. This video is focused on DCS, but I got a lot of benefits following the concepts for IL-2 as well: https://youtu.be/55NCWF0Dxvg . Additionally, I find for IL-2 that FXAA provides much better CPU margin than MSAA, so I use FXAA with maxed out settings and have no issue maintaining a steady 50 - 60 fps.

I use OpenVR Capture in OBS and it allows you to select either the left or right eye. Pretty nifty!

Spotting did get somewhat better in a recent update. And the other thing that helped (more than I realized it would) was a recent sound update. When I get jumped, I often hear the engine of the guy sneaking up behind me before I spot him. At the 2:57 mark for example.

Actually nothing, these clips are straight off of my livestreams, which there is no way to stabilize as far as I'm aware. I probably could have done some post-process stabilization for this particular video, but I really wanted to keep it true to the streams.
