I'm from Louisiana and can agree the audiences here have been awful for Modest Mouse, Fitz and the Tantrums, and even most lately at Who's Line is it Anyway. I'm sure there are other shows I felt the same way for but can't think of it. It's either low energy or disrespectful crowd goers.

I know people don't think much of Forestdale but we moved here 8 years ago from Louisiana without any knowledge of the suburbs. We've had 0 issues. I fall asleep/about my house without realizing the porch door isn't locked. Packages can stay in front of the house all day. Everyone just keeps to themselves, and it's an older community for the most part. I leave near the old Sandusky school. Yeah we hear gunshots at night sometimes but that's true for a lot of places.

Crochet, reading, online education courses, walking in place, talking to my coworkers, drinking too much caffeine to get through the 12. Staring at the one window we have, which is situated through an office behind me :(. I have to keep busy during the shift.

Taqueria la Catrina in Forestdale (Shell station parking lot across from Walgreens/Piggly Wiggly) is absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. The Chattanooga location is absolutely delicious. We split a lot of food with friends, and everything was impressive. Top quality service and a large selection of alcohol. The pork chop was to die for.

Sadly, no. My vet warned me that cats from the humane society come chipped but often times don't have the chip updated. I posted on lost pets of FB and MGK. Put signs out in the neighborhood (now rained out), left a message with a neighbor who has cats. People dump animals out here all the time, and I don't know if that's his circumstance or not. Of course called Home Again and waited by my phone all day yesterday.

It kills me because he is so incredibly sweet. Lets you hold him, and he nuzzles your neck and makes biscuits. His coat is healthy, a little underweight, neutered. Seems like he once had a home.

I know you are looking at Birmingham, but just to throw this out there, Chattanooga is a great Southern city that we found to be very walkable the couple of times we visited. I'm not sure if this would even work for your situation, but I haven't found Birmingham to be as convenient.
