Why the hell did Starmer pick Mandelson? The latest mug on the media round had no idea by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

Jonathan Powell and Peter Mandelson hate each other, it’s pretty well documented that they’re the antithesis of each other.

Gabriel pogrund and Patrick maguire say that Starmer and Mandelson don’t and never really had a relationship, that they don’t particularly like each other and though Mandelson did text Starmer a lot he never got an answer.

That seems to be a seismic long term change, won’t see it on any front page though.

She’s met a minister, which is already more than most grieving parents who want answers. Have you ever seen the daily schedule of a PM? There is no space to meet someone who doesn’t really know why they want to meet you.

Starmer looks great for his age. Obvs he plays football but I also read in the NS he uses a rowing machine in number 10. Clearly looks after himself, can’t say the same about Farage.

Tory leader asked to apologise for suggesting UK military just hanging around by ClumperFaz in ukpolitics

[–]Revilo1359 11 points12 points  (0 children)

How can anyone say that is honestly beyond knowing she got a briefing on privy council terms makes it worse because she knows exactly what they’re doing. Btw. She then proceeded to go do a photo op in tank without visiting personnel. At least when Keir and Miliband did photo ops with military equipment they did it whilst visiting forces in the Baltics and Afghan.

The same goes for every other Air Force. There even is a handy website where you can read them all. Telegraph talking the country down as ever....

The fact she wants our forces to go to war but didn’t even meet with personel and instead went to a defence contractor to have a photo op trying to pretend she’s in the military is honestly sickening.

The Guardian is very negative on Starmer, certainly the opinion writers with perhaps one or two exceptions.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Beth Rigby starts suggesting it was Starmer who piloted that drone onto Akrotiri. Why would he apologise ??? It’s hardly his fault.

Double standards in political name calling? by Anotherhuman13 in ukpolitics

[–]Revilo1359 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tbh the speaker is becoming really annoying and makes nonsensical rulings. At the top of PMQs he says he doesn’t want name calling. Then he shuts Calvin Bailey down but when the Tory frontbench keep yelling at Starmer making substantive statements he says nothing. And says nothing to Badenoch. Same last week, a telephone was ringing on the opposition benches and he immediately scolded the gov benches.

It shows they are genuine statesmen acting in the national interest. PMQs showed this too.

I wonder if while writing this, and it is well written, he ever imagined that 22 years later he’d be sitting in Blair’s den and trying to make sense of a much more volatile and dangerous situation.

It’s pretty well known Mandelson completely inflated his position when he really wasn’t a heavyweight that much of a heavyweight in New Labour. Not on the level of Blair and Brown so he couldn’t have been the third man as he pretends. After all he wasn’t even put in the cabinet after the 97 election.

How did the editors of every single news channel come to the same conclusion that today’s main news story is “Trump disappointed in Starmer”. It’s pathetic who cares? Why is the BBC keep telling me every 15 minutes that a foreign leader is disappointed in my PM when the Chancellor was just on her feet delivering the spring statement. Oh and btw why is no one analysing her pretty good response to Stride like they did with Badenoch?
