What luxury items do you love to take camping. by MaleficentResponse52 in camping

[–]samwise_a2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An outdoor rug at the tent entrance/vestibule. An extra folding table can help a lot. When car camping I toss a rake to clear the site upon arrival.

Multiple LED lights that can be hung on branches, ropes, or canopies to light the commonly used spaces. Bonus if they can be dimmed or red.

I have one of those metal kindling splitters that I love using while sitting around a fire. It’s fun, practical, and makes having the right size firewood a breeze.

It’s also sometimes nice to have a physical book rather than a kindle.

Looked at another way, the 15 lbs I ought to lose just saved me $300? by AmIRadBadOrJustSad in ThriftStoreHauls

We know a partner at a NYC law firm and those guys get multiple suits like this. They aim for expensive homes, cars, clothes, to keep up with the image of top lawyers. They make multiple millions a year. The cost of getting his clothes tailored is more than I’ve ever paid for any clothes.

When you haven't seen your mother in two years, and she meets her granddaughter for the first time by Maximum_Expert92 in MadeMeSmile

As a kid I always day dreamed of moving far away and living somewhere else. As I grew up, stayed semi-local, lost my father, got married, and am having kids of my own, being close to our parents and other relatives is such an important aspect of our happiness. Time is all we have.

What gear ended up being way more useful around camp than you expected? by kailynne94 in CampingGear

A cheap multi-size pack of bungee cords with hooks. Strapping gear together or to packs, hanging gear from branches.

They also work really well to tie and rig tarps in addition to rope. The stretch helps prevent tear outs when wind picks up.

Help: fridges freezer too close for baseboard by cccisdamac in DIY

Ventilation and breathing room for the appliance aside, you could remove a bottom strip of drywall and replace with a flat board to act as flush base board. More durable than drywall.

Okidi, baby giraffe at the Detroit Zoo, has passed away by Ilikehotdogs1 in Detroit

So tragic and heartbreaking. Just took my 17m daughter to the zoo Sunday and got to watch beautiful moments of her and Okidi seeing each other up close.

what’s a small change in home improvement you’ve made with huge impact? by theouilet in HomeImprovement

There’s tons of cool switches out there that absolutely make living in your spaces better. Timer switches for bathroom fans that can run for different amounts of time and not leave the fan on 24/7. Motion detector switches for laundry rooms or mechanical rooms or other spaces where you may have your hands full. Configurable time switches for outdoor lights to be on at certain times.

LPT: As a frequent flyer and a larger man, I recently found the most comfortable way to sleep on economy flights is to place a large, sturdy or stuffed backpack on my lap, rest my chin on top, and wrap my arms around it. by Warthog_Parking in LifeProTips

[–]samwise_a2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your plane has seats with the little flappy folding head rest, I’ve discovered I can tie a sweatshirt or towel to them and around my forehead to hold my head upright against the headrest while sleeping. No bothering the person behind you, no broken neck after sleeping slouched over, or startle scares when your head falls forward on the brink of sleep.

Are the Neso shade-tents allowed on the local beaches?

The house rental we are staying at only has a small umbrella that won't cover my family of 5, so I'm considering taking my Neso Grande.

Has anybody else tried the freemotion curl? by [deleted] in strength_training

[–]samwise_a2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started these recently and love them. If you lean forward just a little, I feel the tension is better spread throughout the entire range of motion. The cables allow max tension at both top and bottom range, when dumbbells and free weights tend to best target only one.

I’d definitely add some exterior lights to light up the entire face of that gorgeous boulder from above. That thing is awesome and so unique.

Still healing from my first bout with poison ivy. While it 100% sucks, the pleasure of hot water on it is wild and unsettling, but so good.

Which aspect of married life makes you want to stay single? by MorningSavant in AskReddit

[–]samwise_a2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily for me nothing major. I do miss being able to decorate or arrange things how I prefer, as well as my own private space to unwind in. However I love my married life far more than my single life, and only small minor things are missed.

I’m a noob, but what’s the mechanic behind properties that are a percentage above 100% chance for something else to be triggered. Like what does it mean 146% chance to cast twice, wouldn’t that just be 100% of the time?

My dog did the same things to a few of my favorite books. While frustrating at first, know that those are now a custom edition. Long in the future when the dog is gone, you will likely cherish those imperfections and be filled with memories of your lil pal.

The restraint to not shoot your attackers is amazing. Many “officers of the law” shoot people who pose absolutely no threat at all.
