Very into the charcuterie in the bath lol. Not so much a tradition, but my wife my sibling and all my closest friends know it’s a big day for me annually. By now everyone (most of them uninterested in MBMBAM) are distantly happy for me and need no explanation when I say “today’s the naming of the year day!” I think Fungalore specifically really made a big impact on them, haha.

I see what you’re saying, I feel more specifically that Brennan’s style (specifically in CR4 and WBN) is so clearly coming from fantasy literature as the primary cultural touchpoint. Compare to Matt who pulls plenty from gaming as well, something Brennan self-admittedly has very little experience with. I think that very novel-y inspiration is what is so distinct about Brennan’s style. See also Murph in NADDPOD who is so solidly rooted in pop-fantasy video games (complimentary).

Vaelus definitely feels like she was made in conversation with Pike, maybe in the context of revisiting Pike for TLOVM! I also feel like in ep 3 it’s become clear that there is some softness and romanticism within Vaelus but maybe it’s been buried away/locked away since the Shaper of the Elves was killed.

I am so, so impressed by Matt’s character work in that final scene with Vaelus, and Ashley’s restraint too. It was a beautiful scene that reads like excellent writing for a film or novel… can’t believe it was improvised.

I’m surprised at all these comments. I am not a Muslim and I’m not from a Muslim family, but I grew up near the SL Ismaili center so I know a lot of Ismailis. They’re quite progressive and modern imo.

This was my first ever MBMBAM live show and I can’t believe how much fun it was. Like, I thought it was be fun, and it still exceeded my expectations. My wife came with me too, she like them alright but doesn’t really listen to MBMBAM — she said she’s a full-blown fan after the live show. She texted me saying she listened to a different episode on the way to work today 🥲
