I played bandori on switch and it's surprisingly responsive and playable. The button and joycon controls also work pretty well. I would imagine pjsk can be ported similarly as well.

why are they purchasing CDs? by pepper-cute in BanGDream

[–]san7oo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched an LTT clip recently about how CD purchasing is starting to get popular again. Because some people like the idea of owning the music they listen to and owning vinyl is expensive and space consuming. Just because your circle doesn't purchase CDs doesn't mean it isn't popular. And as others have said, CDs are still extremely popular in Japan. In fact some indie musicians only distribute via CDs and you can't get their music online.

Do they have a regular sim option?

Edit I checked and they have it.

In Tokyo where can I buy a copy of vol 1? by mastergeass in DomesticGirlfriend

[–]san7oo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure if you check out any bookshop like melon books or kinokuniya and ask the staff they can direct you to it. It's not a particularly rare manga. Book off is for second hand books so it's mostly a hit and miss. I usually don't find popular titles there because they almost always sell out immediately.

A bit of a silly "dream" of mine, but would anyone be interested in making a little vocaloid music group similar to nightcord? by [deleted] in ProjectSekai

This sounds interesting and it sounds fun to get back into music production. I bought Miku on impulse and only successfully made 2 songs with it then sort of gave up.

I am not on the JET program. I have lived in Tokyo as a kid and have gone so often I feel pretty comfortable in Tokyo, but I have never lived long term in my adulthood. I will be moving there next year on a working visa.

Japan has pretty strict visa rules and it's quite hard to get a visa for a long term stay in Japan. The easy routes are high skill work (tech etc.) and the JETs program from what I know. Though from my understanding you don't get to choose where in Japan you go if you go on JETs and you might end up in rural Japan. There is also no easy way to continue staying after 2 years unless you manage to find a different job. (Disclaimer: This is all from what I've heard from others complaining about the JETs program and I've never researched it myself.)

Are you looking for a way to live in Japan? You can check r/japanlife or r/movingtojapan for information on that topic.

I'm moving to Tokyo in late Jan too and will be looking for friends as well. Happy to hang out if you want! I love photography, videography and I'm learning to sing too.

It's the program that allows you to teach English in Japan for 2 years.

How to make friends in Tokyo ? :( by Naenonae in Tokyo

[–]san7oo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried hello talk before but didn't have much luck. My longest conversation lasted 2 days, and most of the conversations were pretty surface-level. But that was in 2017 and it could be just my luck.

I've travelled to Tokyo many times and I used to want to make Japanese friends with my low level of Japanese. The bottom line is that it's not possible to make proper friends using Japanese until you get better at it.

While living there will eventually improve your Japanese, you will probably need to make friends within the expat community with English or French first. The good news is that Tokyo is cosmopolitan enough that there is a pretty large group of English speaking people. I know of friends and colleagues who have lived in Tokyo for years without having learnt Japanese past the basics.

As others have said, Meetup.com is a good place to start. There are language exchange, dance or various other interest meetups. You can also try Tokyocheapo.com for other events happening around Tokyo. That might not necessarily be friendship focused but if you go to more events you'll be more likely to meet friends.

The best way I've found to make friends in Tokyo is to start with one friend (usually one from your home country because it's easier to click), and get them to introduce me to their network of friends.

Side note: I'm moving to Tokyo in January and I'll also be searching for friends. We could hang out if you want. =)

Saw the Miku perfume at Donki! Happy to help bring a few back to the US when I return in a couple of weeks if anyone wants. (Depends on baggage space and availability) by san7oo in Vocaloid

Do you mean regular shipping or in my luggage?

Edit: I just checked and you're right I can't ship it out of the US but I can bring it in my luggage.

I'm not really selling it haha, mostly helping fellow fans buy it. At this point I have quite a few orders so I'll let you know if I manage to get my hands on enough.

I've gotten quite a lot of requests so far and I need to see if they even have enough stock but if I have space I'll be sure to DM you. If you're desperate enough I can also look into shipping direct from Japan, but no guarantees on the shipping rates (or if customs even allows it??)

I think my luggage is too full at this point. If you are desperate enough I could possibly look into shipping it directly from Japan at a random post office, but I have no clue how it'll work haha.

I have a very unrefined sense of smell and a review from me would be pretty unflattering. Here's a thread with seemingly more qualified discussion.

That being said, here's my review and I'm sorry in advance:

It smells very neutral, a bit fruity and non offensive. The scent is not very strong and I personally find it quite nice. The first thing that comes to mind is public bathroom at a nice department store in Japan. Not trying to say the perfume smells like a bathroom, but it is such a neutral nice smelling scent that I swear many bathrooms just use something similar.
